""Concrete Alternatives is the gold standard for service providers. Dan and Dave were a pleasure to deal with, and Chris did an outstanding job of leveling our walkway, thereby eliminating what was a tripping hazard. Chris was prompt, courteous and professional; he is a true artist in his field. We could not be happier with the results! We will definitely turn to Concrete Alternatives for any future project.""

"From the estimate process until final product finished today, we could not be happier with BQ Initially was quoted a 2 day process to complete our Aquastop waterproofing system and sump pump replacement, Steve, Curtis, Pedro, and Josh arrived as promised at 7:30 and completed the job by 1:30. They explained the entire process and updated us throughout. They were very professional, efficient, and polite. Everything was explained about the new system and cleanup has the basement back to pre construction condition. We highly recommend BQ Basements and Concrete!"

"I solicited estimates from six landscaping companies and got three replies.  The estimate from DiPhillipo's was in the mid-range of prices quoted.  After the the offer was accepted, DiPhillipo's gave us an estimated start date and the work was started on schedule.  Only glitch was a rain storm that delayed the completion by 1/2 day.  Otherwise, the job went smoothly and we were very satisfied with the results.

The crew were very courteous, professional and well-trained.  The clean-up was very thorough.  There was minimal collateral damage to the yard because they did all the work manually without having to run a backhoe or Bobcat on our lawn, which we really appreciated.

Some of the green giant arbs were somewhat smaller than what had been planned, so DiPhillipo's gave us a discount on the smaller trees.  Our neighbors commented on how well the results turned out, and one asked for their business card.  We would certainly recommend DiPhillipo's and would hire them in the future.

"I would highly recommend T & J Construction. They just finished remodeling our basement and did an amazing job. I felt the price was very fair. Terrence was more than willing to work with us on some changes. He was excellent at communicating throughout the entire project. Every person he brought into our house I felt very comfortable with. And the quality of the work is great. It's rare to have a project go so smoothly. We had not a single issue with T & J Construction. Not even a minor complaint. I will definitely be using them for future projects and would highly recommend them."

Customers say: Quality work

"Friendly, reliable, uber-helpful professional. He was on the job, which I liked and cheerfully! let me make a few changes in plant placement during the install. As far as price he came in about middle of the estimates we got. (Plantique did the landscaping when we built this10 yrs ago. It was a nice. standard job. We got an estmate from them again.) Diphillipos was a better price. We got a drawing with evrything we wanted and I liked that he made suggestions. Our yard looks unique now! His guys were great, professional, and my yard is utterly transformed. Now we're planning a walkway..."

FAQs for concrete work projects in Bangor, PA

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.

Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.

Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.

An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
