"The weather is changing and we will soon be in winter, I wanted a concrete contractor that can install a concrete driveway asap. I received a bid from four different contractors but we decided to go with Stone Creek, They install our driveway in 4 days, I will definitely recommend them to anyone needing a concrete contractor, best decision I made and the price was resealable."

"Dirk Concrete was so easy to work with. I called him, he gave me a fair estimate, and we hired him. He showed up to do the job exactly when he said he would. He did a great job and the cement turned out wonderful. He got the job done quickly, didn't make a mess, and was very professional. The best part, his estimate was my final bill! I've hired a lot of contractors and it seems like the estimate is never the same as the final bill. I highly recommend this company. They do great work and so friendly to work with. Their work quality is top notch. I'm still in awe when I look at my big 30x70 slab he laid down! Thank you Dirk Concreate! You made new concreate so easy!"

"Quoting was fair and easy. There was a bit of a mix up between the quote and the person's doing the work, but was resolved fairly quickly the work was done just as quickly. Our concrete was raised noticeably and our issue resolved at the time of the work. They have a great warranty, which should be considered with every job in my opinion, it's a fair price for peace of mind! Would use again and have already pass along a referral!"

"Our project was to lift and balance a garage floor and long driveway using foam. Marc, Ben and Andrew showed up on time, did a thorough job, explaining the process every inch of the way. They did what was contracted for plus a bit. The cleanup was everything I could have asked for. We were told exactly what possible problems to watch for and what to do about them. A very good experience and a good warranty."

"From start to finish this was a very professional crew. The finished job (while not previously spoken of) included back filling along the edges and replacing all sprinklers. The owner, Scott, was friendly, professional and extremely helpful. I've had two other concrete contractors through out the years and this is the best ever"

FAQs for concrete work projects in Bismarck, ND

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.

Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.

Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.

An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
