"The work went smoothly and according to plan. Conrad and his crew did excellent work and had good suggestions when we needed them. Felipe and the rest of the crew were helpful and responsive to our questions and requests. Even after the work was finished, Conrad quickly responded to our follow up questions and made sure that we were completely satisfied. We highly recommend Del Mar Landscaping."

Customers say: True professional

"SRS construction: Scott and his crew were very friendly, courteous and professional. They demoed and installed a concrete driveway and low retaining wall with plaster. They came to the job site on time and took care of the surrounding area. They worked with me when I needed to install irrigation and drainage piping under the driveway before they poured it. His crew was knowledgeable and experienced in what they did. They finished on time and ended up with a quality product. If there is one downside it would be to clean up the oversprayed concrete on the house. SRS was fantastic! I would recommend them to people in my neighborhood and others who need concrete work done. Great job!!"

Customers say: Quality work

"Matt the owner of Whieldon Cement Works was a joy to work with. In five days of they pulled out the old concrete, set the forms, set up the drainage and poured the concrete. I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted Matt to do but the great thing about working with Matt is he brings all of his past experience to each and every job site. I am very pleased with my new driveway and walkways that run all the way around my house, and I would use Matt and his team again!"

"Victor was quick to come out and give me an estimate. He quickly understood the complexity of my project and gave me a good price on a solution. A couple of days later, he and his worker came out and finished the job in one day. He cut out and removed part of a concrete wall that was falling because of tree roots. He replaced it with a great looking fence. The area was cleaned up, and everything is in great order."

FAQs for concrete work projects in Fullerton, CA

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.

Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.

Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.

An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
