"Fred and his staff were beyond amazing. We had some foundation requirements along with special styling and they achieved all of our requests with extra care. The rough design was turned into a patio that we were imagining in our dreams. They warned us of their busy schedule and still beat their estimated time of completion by over two weeks. We have several tradesmen peers who were astonished by the quality of the work. The quality of the stamping and finishing work was done above expectations. They colored, power-washed, and used a high end sealer with grit to finish. The turnaround time from when they started the job to end was around 4 days. We could walk on it after a few days."

"Did job as quoted. Was in contact when necessary, ie. delays due to weather. Entire crew was professional. Finished job looks great. Pervious concrete is required in our area. I was skeptical, but job turned out great.

"Local Boys (Bill Cunningham) was fair priced, on time, and performed quality work for us. We saw another project completed by Local Boys (Bill Cunningham) and were impressed with the quality of the work so we had them quote a large patio (1,000sqft) with multiple levels. The price was extremely fair for the work and we could not be happier with the outcome. We even added a few things on to the project and Bill handled all of the changes with ease. The guys showed up on schedule when Allyson said they would be there, and the electronic payment of the invoices was simple and convenient, especially during the COVID-19 times. I would definitely use them again for any concrete/masonry work and I would not hesitate to recommend them."

"Joe is very easy to work with and very professional....we communicated through texts and emails and he promptly answered. We had a new roof installed on house and garage, stucco work done, concrete work and the house and garage painted. We are also getting carpeting installed throughout house. When this project is complete we are considering remodeling the kitchen.. This is our shore home."

FAQs for concrete work projects in Ventnor City, NJ

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.

Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.

Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.

An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
