"Maxima was thorough in reviewing our needs and scheduled the work to minimize disruptions on our street. Their pricing was very competitive. The work was done in the scheduled time despite some rain delays. The crews were very coordinated, personable and respectful of residents. The completed work has received many positive comments not only from our homeowners but visitors to our community. I would certainly use Maxima again and highly recommend them to anyone wanting quality concrete work."

"I had a new patio installed. Royal was prompt in answering any questions I had and was professional in explaining how they would do the project. They arrived on time and finished in a timely manner. The price quoted was what I was expecting. The patio looks great and I would definitely use them again."

"We had a garage approach and lower front porch poured by JC Crete and they did an amazing job. They were on time did everything that they said they would and we're extremely professional. They were flexible to our needs and minor changes during the project. (Changes do cost, but we're very fair and reasonable) We could not imagine having anyone else do concrete work for us. As a matter of fact we have already requested a bid on more concrete work to be done at our house. They may not be the cheapest but if you want true quality and craftsmanship. Do yourself a favor and have them do your project. Thanks JC Crete for a great job!"

"This past spring I contracted with A.P. Marchi to tear out and replace my asphalt driveway with a new one to be completed in concrete. Along with the driveway, the company replaced the driveway apron and broken sidewalk at the end of the drive. The team showed up this fall as planned and completed the work in a very timely fashion. The crew of four which included Anthony Marchi were tireless in the efforts to replace the driveway. They were meticulous in every detail and careful on all levels. I was impressed with how particular they were on how they regraded the driveway, installed the rebar, poured the new concrete in small amounts to better control the flow of the concrete, and finished the project with sealant."

Small jobs welcome

"Rick and his team were very professional and timely. He did an excellent job! He communicated well throughout the entire project, unlike many concrete contractors. I absolutely love the stamped concrete patio and walks that they put in my backyard. - Paul in Old Town East"

FAQs for concrete work projects in Columbus, OH

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.

Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.

Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.

An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
