Small jobs welcome
"Ben was such a great partner in a recent project on my farm. I was placing a pre-built shed for adaptation to a chicken coop. Ben came out and walked the property with me. He listened carefully to what was important to me and what I was trying to accomplish. He made suggestions and helped me make the best decision for the project. He then completed the pad for the shed to go on, ensuring it was level and would have proper drainage. Ben went out of his way to ensure the project was exactly as I had envisioned going above and beyond on little details. I would recommend Soil Friends to anyone and they will continue to be my first call for any future projects on my farm!"

"We had a very large, very long horizontal crack in our wall. Jacob W. was great. He answered all my husbands questions and worked his butt off. Along with Austin H. and Denzel K. The cleaned up everything when the job was done too. I would give them a 10/10 and would recommend them to anyone that needed foundation work done."

"For the past several years my driveway has been destroyed by the roots of a 50 ft. tall pine tree which had broken through the existing concrete, resulting in large chunks, making it an uneven and unsafe surface. For this project I needed some serious excavation to not only remove the pieces of concrete, but also dig out the very large pine tree roots. Tresemer Concrete & Excavating came to the rescue, completing my 100 ft. long driveway in only one day. I was absolutely so impressed with their work. REPORT CARD: Internet Response Time: A+ Electronic Proposal Acceptance: A+ Professional & Courteous: A+ On Time: A+ On-site Coordination: A+ Positive Attitude & Work Ethic: A+ It is easy to see that Tresemer Concrete & Excavating is at the head of the class! Thanks to everyone! SUZI B"

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.
Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.
Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.
An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
