"We had used Hoffman Landscaping for a front yard project in the fall of 2013, and at that time we asked for a quote for deck removal and patio installation in the back of the house. We decided to be patient and wait until spring to tackle that work, but dealt with water issues all winter long in our basement and yard. My patience wore thin.

At the first sign of spring, I had Brian come out to look at our grading and drainage situation. He gave me a revised quote for the original work and the new work, and we were off. Well, almost...we had warm days followed by surprise snow followed by rain. (Three cheers for Maryland weather!) Brian kept in contact with me regarding scheduling and we crossed our fingers for warm and dry days.

The deck and concrete were torn out quickly, but we lost a few days to rain. There was a small misunderstanding about materials and tools being left at our house, but it was not a big deal and Brian was very apologetic. Once the patio work began, we saw progress happen quickly. Brian and his crew worked very hard to get everything finished before more rain came through, and they cleaned up very well when they were done.

They did have to come back one time to fix a couple of loose stairs, but now that we've had a chance to use the patio we're just so happy with the work that was done. The patio is beautiful, and the grading and drainage were done well. Now we wait for the grass seed to grow so we can take some "after" pictures!

"We hired Deck & Shed Pros for a diverse set of projects: a custom-built shed, replacement of our window wells, and some repairs to our stone patio. And we couldn’t be happier with how all of them turned out! During the contract phase, Jim, Jen and Victor were incredibly patient in answering all our questions. They were also very flexible on any design issues, ensuring that the projects could be done exactly how we wanted them. For example, they were able to use the same brand and color of vinyl siding on the shed that we recently had installed on our addition (so now they match perfectly), and they adjusted their plans for the window wells to accommodate our chosen style of wells/covers and the necessary depth for digging them out. When Victor and his crew came to install the window wells and make some patio repairs, the work was done beautifully and efficiently. The crew worked really hard, and they cleaned up the yard afterward so there was no debris left behind. One basement window pane got cracked as they were removing the old brick-and-concrete window wells, and they did a wonderful job of replacing the whole window with plexiglass (which was a painstaking task given the age of the window and how it was installed). People don’t usually think of window wells as beautiful, but the new ones that they installed for us (galvanized steel with polycarbonate covers) have totally transformed and modernized that part of the house. Victor and his team were so friendly and easy to work with. They also poured the concrete pad for our shed, making sure it was smooth and level—and in the exact location that we wanted. Victor even spread grass seed and straw over any disturbed areas. When the shed was ready for installation, the manufacturer’s crew came out to build it on-site. They were super professional, and the whole thing was done in about 6 hours. It’s made of high-quality materials and it’s gorgeous to look at—really complements the style of our home. A couple items had been missing from the shed kit, so someone came right out a few days later to make the necessary fixes. When we saw that it needed a single step under the side door, Jim had someone here within about a week to build one from scratch. Everyone was very prompt and responsive to any issues that came up. Through all of it, the communication with Jen and Jim was outstanding—they were always reachable by phone or email, and Jim would send out email updates every Friday, to keep us apprised of any developments or changes to the timeframe. I highly recommend Deck & Shed Pros for sheds, decks, or any other outside contracting work. (If you’re not sure whether it’s something they do, just ask! We didn’t know what kind of company to hire for the window wells, but they got it done with no problem.) We are thrilled with the results and wouldn’t hesitate to call them again for other jobs in the future."

He helped my wife and I scope out the project and listened to what we wanted and how we wanted to use the space. The guy came out, explained whatever they would be doing, he gave me a drawing of what it was, and he gave me an estimate for both concrete, and flat stone, and explained the difference between the two and the advantages of each of them. Their price was higher than the other one."

"Job was to widen driveway and replace area with chipping cement. Assessment was thorough and priced comparatively. Crewed was punctual, efficient and courteous. Job was completed on schedule. "SEE REVISED NOTES BELOW in CAPS......I had Always replace my front steps, walkway and double wide driveway. The crew did a fine job deconstructing everything and hauling away debris, there concrete work was very good, clean lines, nicely broomed surface, ...but am concerned about a section of the driveway concrete because the second mixer (leForge Jessup) was late requiring the crew to rush and overwork the concrete before it dried. Not really ALWAYS fault but it is a concern. The finishers covered my water shut off valve cover with a thin layer of concrete, easy to remedy....., but most disturbing was the clean up crew filled the ground gaps with excavation material (red clay, concrete debris, and rocks), no real fill dirt.. They left many of the concrete form stakes in and just covered them up. This I had to remedy myself with real fill dirt and reseed, uncover the valve cover, etc... REVISED.....MR. JAMES ALWAYS HAS BEEN VERY RESPONSIVE TO MY ABOVE CONCERNS AND HAS MOVED TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT FOR ME. GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. HAVE RECOMMENDED HIM TO OTHERS."
