"We hired FSM Grand Rapids to spray foam insulate our crawl space and install a dehumidifier to help with the dampness in that area. All four workers, Jalen, DeShawn, Reggie, and Jamont were very friendly, helpful, respectful and professional. The crawl space looks so much better than it did and we are happy that it is sealed off from the cold weather. I would highly recommend FSM for any of your future foundation work!"

"For the past several years my driveway has been destroyed by the roots of a 50 ft. tall pine tree which had broken through the existing concrete, resulting in large chunks, making it an uneven and unsafe surface. For this project I needed some serious excavation to not only remove the pieces of concrete, but also dig out the very large pine tree roots. Tresemer Concrete & Excavating came to the rescue, completing my 100 ft. long driveway in only one day. I was absolutely so impressed with their work. "I've worked with this company in the past only to the quotation stage due to the very high prices and extensive work required for inside and outside the home with trenching outside, concrete tear up and trenching inside for tiles to ensure warranty and guarantees. Not the extent of work I'm interested in pursuing."

"This is a new company. They are younger, but very hard workers. They worked in the very hottest of weather and didnt stop. If you arent happy with a detail, let them know, they will fix it to your liking. Nick, James and Marquis are very hard workers. They beat everyone else's quotes. Let them know what the quotes are and see if they can beat it. Very happy with their work."

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.
Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.
Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.
An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
