"For a long time, I wished there was a way to make my kitchen feel more open and inviting, but I never knew where to start. Due to the demanding nature of my work, I required a team that could step in and keep me informed without being obnoxious. After meeting with Gallery of Kitchens & Baths—recommended by a colleague—I knew they were the perfect choice. As I outlined my vision for an open kitchen incorporating contemporary and rustic touches, they listened intently and even made notes to help me visualize it. James and David suggestion to knock down a wall was scary at first, but they were absolutely right that it would have a tremendous effect. They helped us choose a natural stone countertop that was both stylish and rustic, and they installed it as soon as the space was available in the kitchen. James suggested soft-close hinges, creative wood finishes for the cabinets that matched our cozy design, and storage solutions that we did not even know we needed! They were fast to react, patient, and creative. Even when problems (such finding old wiring in the walls) emerged, they dealt with them expertly. The fact that they guided us and kept us inside our budget the whole time was a great relief. With plenty of space for hosting guests or simply enjoying a cup of coffee, our kitchen is now aesthetically pleasing and functional. I would definitely recommend them to others."

Customers say: Quick response
"The carpenter that did the job (Adam) was amazing. He had to expand the space for one window, narrow the space for another, and repair much cedar siding that had rotted away due to water damage. He also reshaped my patio door so it would close and lock more easily. He is a very talented carpenter and I have no qualms about highly recommending him."

Small jobs welcome
"We had Martin paint our living room, hallway, foyer, heating elements, doors, and window trim. In addition, he put in new baseboards and chair railing. He replaced our entryways into the kitchen with nice molding. He took down and replaced our light fixture in the foyer. He was able to work off a benchmark photo to achieve the final result with very little input required from me. He really takes so much pride in his work, he's like a magician, waves his magic wand to create an amazing end product."

"I've got a 112 year old hose that is pretty solid, but it had a cracked floor joist and part of the flooring wasn't properly supported. I hired Kristian and his team to install a couple of lally columns to support a carrying beam and sister a couple of floor joists. Many contractors wouldn't even return my call because I wasn't looking to complete a huge remodel job, but Kristian came over, gave me a fair verbal estimate on the spot, and worked with me on timing to complete the project. Not only that, but the solution wasn't overly complicated. The job was straightforward, completed exactly as described in the time described, and there was no scope creep. If I ever have a larger need, they'll certainly be my first call. I would highly recommend K&X construction if you need any services that they offer."

"We recently did a big kitchen renovation and used Cecy Gillen Designs. We have used Cecy for many projects small and big but this job was our biggest. I can not express how incredible she was to work with. First, she is very creative and offers a great deal of visuals and insight. Secondly, she and her crew work so efficiently and are very meticulous. Also, her professionalism was beyond measure. We are always very pleased with their work and how reasonably priced she was. If you are thinking of any home renovations, I HIGHLY recommend you call Cecy Gillen Designs. Maria C"

Butcher block countertops come in three main styles, each offering a unique look and function. Flat grain, also known as face grain, showcases the natural wood patterns, giving your kitchen a modern and elegant appearance. Edge grain is made from long, narrow wood strips, making it sturdy and providing a consistent grain pattern. End grain features a checkerboard pattern that is highly durable and perfect for heavy food preparation. Each style caters to different aesthetic preferences and usage needs, enhancing your kitchen's look and functionality.
With proper care, wood countertops can last anywhere from 20 to 100 years. To keep yours looking like new, clean up spills immediately and reseal the surface regularly—ideally once a month in the first year, then twice a year after that. Regular maintenance helps preserve the wood's beauty and durability for decades.
Wood countertops aren't hard to maintain if you keep up with regular care. Simply clean them with mild soap and water after use and reseal them monthly during the first year (then twice a year afterward). Using a food-grade oil or sealant protects the wood from damage. With a bit of routine maintenance, your countertop will stay beautiful and durable.
Wood countertops are sanitary with proper care and maintenance. By sealing them with a food-grade sealant and cleaning them regularly with mild soap and water, you create a barrier that prevents bacteria from getting into the wood. Always dry the surface thoroughly after cleaning to keep it hygienic and safe for food prep.
It's best to oil raw wood countertops once a month during the first year. After that, you can oil them twice yearly to keep them in good shape. If your countertop is professionally stained or sealed, you might not need to oil it as often. Regular oiling helps prevent drying and cracking, preserving the wood's natural beauty and durability.
