"Principle Electric did a fantastic job in my kitchen renovation. I had under counter lighting and outlets installed, complex vent hood, new switches and fixtures. The original cabinet contractor was horrible and screwed up the installation of the cabinets which made the electrical work more involved and harder. Never a complaint, polite, clean and respectful. Would recommend this company to anyone. If I could add pictures of the work I would."

"Nat Holmes, of Holmes Electrical, did an outstanding job installing five lighting fixtures. I appreciated his prompt arrival. Nat is knowledgable, and mentors his experience with his two helpers: Frankie and Tyrone. I was very pleased. Overall I gave them a 4.5, but meant to say 5.0. I was not sure how to change it once added."

"These guys were great. They came in and didn t try to sell me on additional work, nor did they come in and do a cheap-o job just to make a quick buck. They took a reasonable approach and I m pleased with the work."

"HLS's president and installer Tom Sansone singlehandedly confirmed that experts who demonstrate exceptional customer care and superb performance do exist. Even if finding good pros wasn't such a futile exercise, Mr. Sansone is by far the best contractor, installer, business with whom I've dealt within the past 10 years, and that is no exaggeration. In terms of cost benefit of buying the system and his installation service? By comparison to everything Iâve bought and had installed since buying my house in 2014, I'd consider what HLS provided me may have been undervalued, because it's so vastly better than anything I have ordered, bought or had installed or done for any reason in more than four (maybe 10) years. My new commercial grade security camera system is so perfectly user friendly that it's like watching an HD TV with a DVR that does what you want). HLSâ owner installer tech Tom Sansone also instilled hope that a good, hard work ethic is not an elusive sentimental dream or unsatisfiable expectation. His work was so careful and response to my security needs that his work was exacting, clean, professional and so orderly that it replaced my miserable mess of wires, tape, broken and malfunctioning devices and system that had been rendered junk by intruders. Everything HSL installed and the base station was secured with a locking box and cooling system. His camera positioning and functionality were spot on and I now feel safer and more aware of my perimeter. My old, funky, fuzzy compromised Zmodo system has been replaced with a commercial grade wired, DVR system made by DAHUA Technologies, a wired DVR system with such clarity and functionality that I feel privileged to have it. HLS quality surpasses that of any product installation Iâve had in a decade. He faced a mess by the previous installer whose work pretty much mirrors the standard around this part of South Carolina, that being poor quality materials, spliced and black tape connections, loose and nonworking cameras, inaccessible remote viewing or backup records. I could never access viewing remotely resulting in persistent repeat burglaries and thefts rendering me practically uninsurable. As such, a reliable, highly functional system is imperative for my and my propertyâs protection. I now feel more secure and more capable or responding to the ravages of a predatory, drug-infested theft-riddled society sparing no one. Further, I donât have to fume on hold in auto-prompt limbo trying to get help with my system, I have Tom Sansone to call if I need help with my system. I never have been more thankful or satisfied for any service, and I have gotten service that directly and critically enhances my very personal safety. (THANK YOU, HOME ADVISOR!!!)"

"Mike is great. We hired him to bring some outlets up to code and install a couple of new ones. He was prompt, communicative, and informative with regards to what he was doing and why it had to be done. He worked quickly and efficiently, and the final invoice was in line with what he estimated prior to the job. He also had to cut into the drywall for a couple of installations, and he took great care to replace what he removed. I was fully prepared to have to do a full patch job, but thanks to Mike's careful work I only need to do a little sanding and spackling. He also cleaned up after himself; everywhere he worked was immaculate. You'd never know he was there. I plan on using Energy Opps for any and all future electrical work I need done."

Electricians do a fair amount of larger remodeling and new construction projects but also common residential projects including:
For cost information related to the above tasks, visit our Electrical Cost Guide.
A truly skilled, well-equipped professional with a truck full of parts that charges $100 an hour can be a much wiser choice than an inexperienced hack, working with inadequate tools and no parts, but charging much less. Often, more experienced professionals get the job done quickly with warrantied work.
2. Compare Travel ChargesRates reflect travel times. Travel charges can have a big impact on your costs and are in some ways easier to compare than hourly rates. Many electricians spend a third or more of their time navigating traffic on their way to a jobsite. Every contractor must find a way to pay for the expense of driving each day.
3. Bundle Repair Jobs TogetherWhen you feel it’s time to call a pro, review your list and then conduct a mini-inspection of your home. Look for faulty switches and dysfunctional or crowded outlets. When the electrician comes, you’ll save money and time by getting everything taken care of at once.
4. How to Prepare & What to Know Before the Electrician ArrivesCharleston Electricians are rated 4.9 out of 5 based on 360 reviews of 360 pros.
