"Homer was simply terrific! He called 30 minutes before his appointment and arrived on time to the minute. He diagnosed the problems immediately, made the necessary repairs so that the air conditioner, the garage doors, the clothes dryer, etc., etc. were functioning in a few minutes. He explained what had gone wrong and how to avoid problems in the future. Everything went so well that I booked him on the spot for other electrical work that I had been putting off. A totally reliable electrician!!"

"I'm glad we hired A and Z. Barry Goldstein gave us a call and come to our residence to look at the work needed. Barry is a great and sincere person and we enjoy the small talk but got to business. We were in need of GFCI electric switches in the kitchen, bathroom, and other areas. Plus, we need new electrical outlets in our closets in both bedrooms and have the pulley taken out, and ad a fixture on the outside of the closet. We also had a hazard with the powerline where the clamps that are attached to the outside wall of the house were hanging out. Plus the kitchen exhaust fan and the ceiling fan needed to be installed and they did. The crew explained what is expected in the process and the price. They placed it back to her tight in order for us to get COMED to fix the wiring. They came and fixed the job and did it cleanly and professionally. The crew was great to talk to and we felt they value customer service no matter what the job. We like their overall work and are responsive. I recommend A to Z for anyone looking for small to big jobs. Great job they did."

"Blazer Electric was excellent. They installed a new outlet in my kitchen with causing minimal mess since this was a brand new outlet so I could install an oven range hood. They used all the PPE precautions and were pretty thorough and polite. I will definitely have them do my future electrical work when needed."

"Luis was very professional and very accommodating. He talked in detail/depth with me about my project, went over my blue prints and he made it easy. Luis was punctual, he was there when he said heâ d be, and most importantly he passed inspection with flying colors! I am using him right now for another project, and will continue to use him for a future. Thanks Escudero Electrical Contractors for making things happen with ease."

"Joe was a great help with our electrical projects. We had several smaller projects that we needed done in our new house. He recommended some ways to simplify our projects, quoted a reasonable cost, and performed great work. He even did a great job cleaning up after finishing. I would highly recommend him for your project!"

Small jobs welcome

"Users frequently rate this 4.7/5, highlighting its exceptional reliability, high-quality construction, and excellent app performance. Most smart switches (e.g., Kasa, Meross) require a neutral wire, which may not be present in homes built before the 1980s. Some smart switches (e.g., Wemo, Commercial Electric) are quite deep, making them a tight fit in older, shallower electrical boxes Most top-rated mechanical switches (Eaton, Leviton) are praised for being straightforward for DIYers"

"Customer service was exceptionable and a pleasant experience. We had tree damage that cut our ComEd power (3PM). After ComEd cut tree limbs we were told the Weather Head had to be replaced before power was restored. We searched Angi & contacted MD (4AM) they texted within minutes and asked when they could call at our convenience or we could call them. We called @ 9AM and MD said Claude could come that afternoon. I said OK and explained what needed to be done. I was then told to hold and MD came back and said someone could be there in 35-40 minutes and I said great. They came out (10AM) checked line and said Meter Housing had to also be replaced. They had to go to a supplier to get housing and fixed both including reattaching AT&T line. Since there was excess electrical wire when the original Weather Head was installed MD was able to save us the cost of new wiring. They were done be 11AM and ComEd was done at 3PM that day. Thank You and your HOLMES attitude MAKE IT RIGHT the 1st time."

FAQs for electrical service projects in Lincoln Park, IL

In some states and municipalities, licensed and registered handypersons can change a light fixture and do minor electrical work. However, you should check with your state and local licensing boards before hiring a local handyperson. In most cases, it’s safer and more practical to hire an electrician for this job. It may cost more, but hiring a licensed electrician means they’ll get the work done to code.

Special light fixtures, known as damp-rated light fixtures, are recommended in bathrooms, particularly if they're near damp areas like showers and over the bathtub. However, in most locations, they’re not a strict requirement. For safety and longevity, damp-rated fixtures are a better choice. If you work with a lighting contractor in your area, they may be able to recommend the right kinds of fixtures for your space.

Yes, it’s possible to run a second light fixture to a switch, meaning the light switch would control more than one light fixture. Several factors can impact whether it’s possible and how much it will cost. In many cases, it may be easier and more affordable for the contractor to install independent light switches. Talk to your electrician about your idea to get their feedback.
