"Yes he showed up half an hour early, and was very knowledgeable. And very careful not to get soot all over the place while he was cleaning our fireplace. He repaired the box in the fireplace quickly and efficiently. We also took him to the neighbors and he cleaned their fireplace. Very happy with them I would recommend him again."

"This company was great! Owner Jon and his helper were thorough and conscientious as they removed and cleaned all the glass walls, removed debris from the fire bed, checked the pilot and starter and replaced the embers. They also did a quick check on our converted wood burning fireplace at no extra charge. It was a pleasant experience all around. I would definitely hire them again."

"Unique Transformation did an amazing job on my countertops, installing all the plumbing, garbage disposal, and hooking up my microwave. Both Angel and Alisa are great to work with. They helped me from behind to end, gave me suggestions and ideas as to what they felt look good. Angel & Alisa are very honest and trustworthy. The job look amazing, not a snag or an imperfection. I will definitely be referring them and using them again."

"Chris did all the measuring himself. Was excellent matching the granite patterns and hiding the seam on the one countertop. The fireplace was to have a seam in the travertine and he was able to cut and install in one piece....it is beautiful! We had three proposals and Chris was the middle priced..but, really glad we spent the extra money and choice him. He will be doing our bathrooms this fall! Great to work with!"

"You will like working Joe Harley.  His crew of two brothers and wives were hard working, quite and good.  I am very staified with their work.  I interviewed 12 contractors and selected Joe based on Angie's list, interview and price.  His price was mid-range.
Weather (rain) affected progress but the work was completed in about 7 days.  Extra work was done where old layers of paint were showing. Preparation was key as the house has many windows and lots of prior paint layers.  They did a thorough job of pressure washing and scraping.   The stucco surface sucked up a lot of paint and required more than was estimated but at no additional cost to me.
I would recommend Harley painting to all.

"Chimnee Cricket did a lot of work on our fireplace and chimney in St. Pete. The previous owners neglected it pretty badly and a lot of masonry needed to be redone. They came out and did a free estimate, provided us with catalogs of options for our remodel, and were very professional throughout the process. We love the finished product, it looks beautiful. The only thing I would suggest as an area of improvement for our experience was the time between communications, sometimes we would have to call and prompt the next step or to find out updates on where things were, so make sure you are a good advocate for your project or it might take a while to get done if there is significant work needed. Would still recommend them though because the quality was top notch."

"Paul and Erica came prepared and got to work immediately. They were professional, courteous, and efficient. They blocked off the kitchen door with a covering to keep the air conditioning in while the garage door was up for hoses to run the equipment, they used corner guards on the wall, covered stairs and wood floor, covered shoes, walked through with us to show them any problem areas, raked the carpet when finished to lift it, and explained the process. Our daughter had used their services before, was pleased, as were we. They will be coming back to clean grouting and seat cushions. I would highly recommend Surface Experts!"

FAQs for fireplace and wood stove service projects in Anna Maria, FL

Start with a professional inspection. If damage is limited to a few bricks or the crown, a targeted repair helps keep costs and disruption to a minimum. Severe leaning, widespread mortar failure, or major fire damage usually signals it’s time for a complete teardown and rebuild. Your contractor will outline both price tags, but remember that rebuilding a failing stack is often cheaper than repeated patch jobs and the water leaks or fire hazards they allow.

Cracks provide water with an easy path into the masonry, weakening the bricks and mortar and increasing the risk of collapse or fire. Gaps can also let hot gases and sparks escape into attic spaces. Call a chimney pro as soon as you see cracking so they can seal small joints or recommend a larger rebuild before minor damage turns into a costly emergency.

Smoke rolling back into the room often indicates a blocked flue, a broken damper, or a drafting issue. Have a sweep inspect the damper, flue liner, and any obstructions right away. Most fixes involve clearing debris, repairing the liner, or adjusting the damper so the fireplace pulls air correctly. Don’t light another fire until a professional pinpoints the cause and confirms your system is venting safely.

Most policies cover chimney repairs caused by a sudden, covered event, such as lightning, a fallen tree, or a house fire. They won’t cover damage that stems from neglected maintenance or everyday wear. Review your policy or contact your agent before scheduling work to determine what documentation your insurer requires and what costs you will be responsible for.

Component life spans vary. Clay tile or cast-in-place liners last close to 50 years, while stainless-steel liners last 15 to 20 years. Mortar requires attention every 25 to 30 years, while crowns last 50 to 75 years. Use these numbers as a maintenance roadmap: schedule regular inspections, budget for future upgrades, and replace parts before age-related cracks develop into more significant problems.
