"Burt Goodman worked all day to caulk and seal the chimney, replace the cleanout door, inspect the top of the chimney, caulk and repair the fireplace and brick face inside, and explain the whole process and answer my questions. (Please excuse if I used the wrong terms for some of the work done!) Overall, I would highly recommend Archer Construction."

"Southern Appeal responded to my call promptly. I met with Mr. Trawick at the house so he could provide me with an estimate. I wanted to take it all back to the fences with greenery around the border, use of some existing ground cover and a paved walkway. A couple days later he emailed me his first estimate which included a lot of pine straw. While I wanted to keep costs down, I also didn't want a yard full of straw. I asked him to rework it by making the paved area larger. After I got the revised estimate and agreed on the work he started a couple weeks later. The project took about two weeks. I will say that his workers were professional and courteous. One of his sons was the crew manager. Some days they worked 8 hours but some days they were there 4 hours. The entire project took about two weeks. So, the yard went from a total embarrassment to spectacular. I will caution anyone who uses this or any other service to discuss specific plants. I had a total of about 10 different types of plants. I thought that was too much variety for my taste. It took me a couple weeks of critiquing the work to realize I liked some plants much better than others. So, I called Mr. Trawick and asked him what we could. I also spoke to him about doing another smaller job in the front yard so he combined the estimates.
The plants were warrantied for 90 days so when one of the ferns died in the first week, they replaced it the day after I called about it.
Job #2 was replacing 6 plants in the back with the ones that I liked better and doing a smaller job in the front yard. The front job was transplanting two sago palms that were competing for space, enlarging the planting area with new border and removing a large jasmine vining all up in everything. That job took only one half day.
Job #1: 10,500
Job #2: 600
Overall, very pleased with the work and how it looks. Nothing but compliments from everyone one because the yard is so inviting and a great place to entertain.

"David Eggler and another technician came to our house to replace our existing fireplace. They were prompt and very professional. Once they had the old firebox out they discovered rotten wood. David was not phased he drafted a quoted for the additional materials and labor in just a few minutes. After a 12 hour day my fireplace couldn’t be more beautiful. But mor importantly it was safe to use. Thank you David Eggler with the Chimney company of Destin Florida. Great job!"

"The two gentlemen who did the work were punctual, courteous, and friendly. They were very careful to protect the rest of my house from the mess when demolishing the old fireplace, and cleaned up after the job. They listened to me and took care when fitting the stones to get the look of my new fireplace just right. They charged exactly the amount of the estimate - they didn't try to make excuses for the job costing more. Finally, they followed up after the job to make sure I was happy with the work. Now I'm looking forward to winter to try out my new stone fireplace."

"We needed a cleaning and inspection of a chimney in a new home we bought. Affordable Chimney Sweep is that! The guys were prompt, professional and did not try to sell us on anything we did not need! I would highly recommend this business."
Start with a professional inspection. If damage is limited to a few bricks or the crown, a targeted repair helps keep costs and disruption to a minimum. Severe leaning, widespread mortar failure, or major fire damage usually signals it’s time for a complete teardown and rebuild. Your contractor will outline both price tags, but remember that rebuilding a failing stack is often cheaper than repeated patch jobs and the water leaks or fire hazards they allow.
Cracks provide water with an easy path into the masonry, weakening the bricks and mortar and increasing the risk of collapse or fire. Gaps can also let hot gases and sparks escape into attic spaces. Call a chimney pro as soon as you see cracking so they can seal small joints or recommend a larger rebuild before minor damage turns into a costly emergency.
Smoke rolling back into the room often indicates a blocked flue, a broken damper, or a drafting issue. Have a sweep inspect the damper, flue liner, and any obstructions right away. Most fixes involve clearing debris, repairing the liner, or adjusting the damper so the fireplace pulls air correctly. Don’t light another fire until a professional pinpoints the cause and confirms your system is venting safely.
Most policies cover chimney repairs caused by a sudden, covered event, such as lightning, a fallen tree, or a house fire. They won’t cover damage that stems from neglected maintenance or everyday wear. Review your policy or contact your agent before scheduling work to determine what documentation your insurer requires and what costs you will be responsible for.
Component life spans vary. Clay tile or cast-in-place liners last close to 50 years, while stainless-steel liners last 15 to 20 years. Mortar requires attention every 25 to 30 years, while crowns last 50 to 75 years. Use these numbers as a maintenance roadmap: schedule regular inspections, budget for future upgrades, and replace parts before age-related cracks develop into more significant problems.
