"We hired Anthony's Chimney Sweeps to service our fireplace before the first round of cold weather. He looked at everything and said everything looked good and didn't charge me because he said everything was fine. Many other businesses would've used that as an opportunity for a quick, easy buck. The fact that they didn't do this immediately built credibility and trust with me and I'll be using them for future service as well as when we do our wood burning stove install for this very reason."

"lOn 8/21/15 we had a water pipe break which caused the water valve to burst. My husband was outside and I was in a back bedroom getting ready for work. By the time we discovered it, most of our basement was in ankle deep water. After getting a plumber and a utility guy to get the plumbing fixed, we called the insurance. At first we were told it wouldn't be covered so we spent 4 days pulling up rug and padding knowing they were ruined. There was one room where the carpet was not very old so we decided to call someone to see if it could be saved. That is when Property Restoration Resolutions and it's owner Shawn Turano came into our lives. What did he do? Everything!!! It began with his inspection of our property and his discussion with our insurance company explaining and getting them to understand and agree to cover the costs.
As far as to what he and his men did the list is long. They removed all our furniture and belongings from the basement. removed all the old carpeting and padding throughout the basement, brought in industrial size equipment to run for several hours to try to dry out the area, removed all the doors and floorboards, made a 2 ft. tall cut into every wall because the water had seeped into the inside of the walls. tried to remove the tile under the carpet but when it became suspect he ordered testing, testing was positive for asbestos, contracted a company to come in to remove the asbestos, removing the wainscot, removing the wallpaper.
Then the rebuilding began, dry walling, rebuilding the bathroom because 4 of the walls were compromised which included tiling the floor, shower floor and wall, reinstalling the toilet and sink with cabinet, hired 2 incredible painters to repaint the whole downstairs family room, 2 bedrooms, bathroom and hallway, replaced floor boards and repaired bottom of wooden door frames, contracted a company to replace all the carpeting and to tile the laundry room and attached storage room, instead of replacing the wainscot a chair bar was installed in the family room.
They also provided a large dumpster and a large holding bin. As I took pictures of the damaged property they threw it in the dumpster and put the rest in the holding bin. When the work was done the guys returned all of the boxes and furniture and other items to the basement placing them where I asked them to put them.
Unless you have been through something like this you cannot imagine the stress and frustration we felt at first. My husband and I are over 65 and semi-retired so those first few days were awful! Scary, hard work and overwhelming. Then we called Property Restoration Solutions and Shawn took over.He was truly a God send. He surveyed the situation and immediately went to work . All of the people that work for him were great! Nate, Marcus and Austin were friendly, courteous and respectful. They wrapped, packed and cared for our household items as if they were their own. They worked in a timely manner always asking and respecting my opinion when needed. There were days when I had to leave them alone in the house because of my work and that was fine. I knew that the company was licensed and bonded, but I knew in my heart that I had nothing to worry about. They all were great guys.
Shawn also hired independent painters Randy and Dan Steckman who did a wonderful job, very professional. I would highly recommend them to anyone. I had them do some extra work that was not part of the insurance settlement and their prices I thought were very reasonable.
All along the way Shawn helped us from choosing carpeting to tile to paint colors to tile and flooring for the shower. He made everything easier for us. He answered all our questions and explained anything we needed explained. I would absolutely recommend him for any of this kind of work. He and his crew are wonderful people and excellent craftsmen!!"

Start with a professional inspection. If damage is limited to a few bricks or the crown, a targeted repair helps keep costs and disruption to a minimum. Severe leaning, widespread mortar failure, or major fire damage usually signals it’s time for a complete teardown and rebuild. Your contractor will outline both price tags, but remember that rebuilding a failing stack is often cheaper than repeated patch jobs and the water leaks or fire hazards they allow.
Cracks provide water with an easy path into the masonry, weakening the bricks and mortar and increasing the risk of collapse or fire. Gaps can also let hot gases and sparks escape into attic spaces. Call a chimney pro as soon as you see cracking so they can seal small joints or recommend a larger rebuild before minor damage turns into a costly emergency.
Smoke rolling back into the room often indicates a blocked flue, a broken damper, or a drafting issue. Have a sweep inspect the damper, flue liner, and any obstructions right away. Most fixes involve clearing debris, repairing the liner, or adjusting the damper so the fireplace pulls air correctly. Don’t light another fire until a professional pinpoints the cause and confirms your system is venting safely.
Most policies cover chimney repairs caused by a sudden, covered event, such as lightning, a fallen tree, or a house fire. They won’t cover damage that stems from neglected maintenance or everyday wear. Review your policy or contact your agent before scheduling work to determine what documentation your insurer requires and what costs you will be responsible for.
Component life spans vary. Clay tile or cast-in-place liners last close to 50 years, while stainless-steel liners last 15 to 20 years. Mortar requires attention every 25 to 30 years, while crowns last 50 to 75 years. Use these numbers as a maintenance roadmap: schedule regular inspections, budget for future upgrades, and replace parts before age-related cracks develop into more significant problems.
