"I had a lightning strike Friday night that damage a lot of stuff at my home, including my garage door motor. Saturday I had was stressing and spent the whole day looking for someone to come fix my garage. No one apparently could assist on a weekend until I received a call from Advance garage doors. He said he could be here in an hour and I said OK perfect. The two installers arrived in a timely manner and were courteous and ready to work. They began repairing my garage door motor immediately without hesitation. They were respectful and had great manners. It took them less than an hour to complete the garage and then they showed me how to use the new wall mount and keypad. He also synced my old garage door openers. Everything went smoothly and was perfect! They definitely deserve more than five stars!"

"Excellent service from start to finish! The technician arrived on time, quickly diagnosed the issue with my garage door, and explained everything clearly before starting the repair. The work was completed efficiently, the price was fair, and the garage door now works perfectly. The technician was friendly, professional, and left the area clean when the job was finished. I highly recommend Home Service Garage Door Company to anyone looking for honest, reliable, and high-quality garage door service. I would definitely use them again."

FAQs for garage and garage door service projects in Aberdeen, NC

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.

Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.

A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.

Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.

A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.

Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.

If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
