"This company is GREAT! His work is professional. He answered all my questions. He wasn't rushed, didn't cut any corners. Fixed a structural issue from my last door install. Programmed all the remotes, and left the garage clean. I will always get Andrew to do any future work for me...Also his prices were reasonable."

"Saturday night opened the garage door and heard a loud bang and immediately knew what it was . The cable and spring assembly broke. I called a friend and they recommended Adams Garage Door. I called Adams Garage Door and explained the situation (Remember this is Saturday night) and he said he would be out tomorrow morning @ 9am(I was thinking more toward the work week). The next morning he repaired the door mechanisms and also gave me some pointers about my system. My home is about 12 years old. The quickness, knowledge and just pleasant conversation will have me reaching back out to Adams Garage Door for the rest of my business."

"At 5:22pm on Friday 6/12 my garage opened fine as I departed. When I returned home at 5:57pm the garage door would not open. The cable snapped. At 6:20pm I posted on Angis list. At 6:25pm Christopher Garage Door called me. At 8:40am on Saturday 6/13 Christopher Garage Door pulled up. By 9:32am Christopher Garage Door was finished with his repair. I am happy with his work and highly recommend him."

"I hired Kevin O'Brien to complete 3 lengthy projects for our home. We had our 1300 sq ft. basement finished, a 3rd bathroom installed and a 2.5 car garage constructed. All of these projects were performed at different times. What I love the most is the fair price. We told Kevin what we had to spend and he made it happen. If he needed more for whatever reason I trusted his reasoning. All of the projects were done in a timely manner. If I had a follow up question, he would come by the house and gladly answer all of my questions. I would hire Kevin again in a heartbeat."

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.
Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.
A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.
Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.
A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.
Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.
If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
