"We love our new garage door. It's the best-looking garage door in our neighborhood, bar none. Juan was wonderful. He took his time and did a splendid job. We also can't believe how quiet it is compared to our old door that made quite a racket, especially when opening it. We also got a new LiftMaster opener which Juan also installed flawlessly. It's a "Smart" opener so we can open & close the garage door with our smartphones. Plus the new garage door has insulation and Juan put a seal around the door so the garage will be warmer in winter and cooler in summer. We love it and the professionalism of Juan and the Plano Overhead Garage Door company."

"Service was great, price was great. Our garage doors are original from the 70's and were starting to just fall apart. I called for a quote to see if they could even be fixed before they fell off the track completely. Steve came out on time and assessed the situation and determined that we needed replacements. They had someone out the next day to install the new doors. One repairman arrived at 8:45am and was completed with both new doors by 11:20am. He even took the old doors away and cleaned up after himself. Will for sure recommend this company to anyone needing garage door maintenance."

"We believe Family Christian Doors is an excellent company to do business with. They added a few extras in like double spring and others. They were very informative and wanted to make sure we were comfortable with the install. Highly recommended!"

"My garage door spring, in use for about 4 years, broke last night. I went to the Home advisor site to look around to see who had the best rating and pricing. I filled out the form and saved the list of Pros to look at later. Tom from Blake & Sons called me that night to see if I needed the door fixed that night. I was impressed that he called me and showed concern for my situation. We talked price and options like single spring vs double spring. I decided to have it done the next morning and set the appointment. Tom, a very personable young man, was prompt arriving at the appointed time. He explained to me what he was going to do and gave me tips to keep my garage door working properly. He replaced the single spring setup, which looked to be older than my 4-year-old house, with a double spring setup which would work better for the size door I have. Thomas finished within the hour and adjusted my garage door opener to perfection. I can't say enough about my great experience with Tom from Blake and Sons Garage Doors. They are a very professional outfit and I highly recommend them for any garage door problem or just basic preventative maintenance. Ask for Tom, you can't go wrong."

FAQs for garage and garage door service projects in Frisco, TX

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.

Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.

A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.

Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.

A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.

Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.

If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
