"Initially we thought we were just in need of an adjustment but the actual spring was falling apart and they replaced it on the spot. AngiesList coupon deal $75 for garage door tune up and an additional $350 for the replacement of the spring. Not happy about the additional cost BUT it was totally necessary. 5***** all the way around!"

"David did a great job on our rental property. He finished installing a door that did not fit properly. He then replaced our Garage Door and Security Door as well. We were happy with the quality of the work after he was done and he charged us a fair price (based upon research and comparisons) for the work done. David is also a great individual and easy to talk to / get along with."

"Kirk from Reliable Gargage Door came and helped fix my garage door. He did an excellent job going through the process of unstuck the door to replacing the springs and recalibrate the opener. He went extra step in fixing/replacing the anchor of the retractor beam, which also broke. I would recommend Kirk and Reliable Gargage Door to everyone needs garage door services."

"I am brand new to Angi, but what a wonderful first experience! Miguel of Hale Garage Door was very responsive and prompt, calling me back early in the morning (on a holiday!) after submitting the request the night before. Fixed my spring right away (he came prepared) instead of just providing an estimate, and he also spotted some hinges that were warped and would need future replacing, and I went ahead and happily ok'd his looking out. Also made a recommendation to keep our garage safer from break-ins (not as an upsell, just a suggestion--which was to cut the string that hangs down, as thieves often use that for entry.) Anyway--Miguel was pleasant, seemed honest and fair enough, and could not have been quicker and easier. I lucked out! :)"

FAQs for garage and garage door service projects in Mountain House, CA

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.

Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.

A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.

Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.

A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.

Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.

If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
