"Technician, (Michael), arrived on time. Assessed the situation and explained in detail what was required to repair the door. Michael answered all of our questions. He was a very pleasant, very service oriented individual. Michael also sync'd both of our vehicles so that we could open all garage doors along with the external keypad. Cost was very reasonable. I highly recommend Precision and will use them to maintain my garage doors in the future. (I used Precision at our prior home and was also very satisfied with their work.)"

"I cannot say enough great things about Goodman Garage Door Services. From the moment I reached out, the communication was prompt, professional, and incredibly helpful- he fit me into his schedule the next day! When he arrived, he briefly diagnosed my issue, clearly explained it, answered my questions, and walked me through my options without any pressure or upselling. The work itself was done efficiently and with great attention to detail. You can tell Gavan takes a lot of pride in what he does. My garage door now runs smoother and quieter than it ever has, and everything was left clean after he finished. If you’re looking for honest, reliable, and high-quality garage door service, Goodman Garage Door Services is absolutely the company to call. I will 100% be using Gavan's services again and recommending him to anyone who asks!"

"Garage Kings were great to work with; I had to reschedule several times due to weather and prior commitments and Jesse was always accommodating. I received an email confirming our appointment today, and the crew called to let me know they were twenty minutes away. As far as the work it's spectacular, the crew worked nonstop all day to finish the job. I highly recommend Garage Kings for the quality and reasonable price."

FAQs for garage and garage door service projects in North Myrtle Beach, SC

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.

Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.

A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.

Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.

A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.

Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.

If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
