"I bought a $99 inspection special online on a Sunday afternoon. Within an hour, Christian called to let me know he could be there that day.  There were some small holes in the shingled roof over a detached garage I wanted patched, and also wanted a second opinion on some issues other roofers had pointed out regarding my chimney apron.  Christian arrived when he said he would and was extremely capable and knowledgeable. He quickly and thoroughly made the repairs to my garage roof, pointing out and clearly explaining what was good and what would need attention later on. He did the same with the house roof. He freely shared information and advice, even if it wasn't to his benefit, such as things I could hire him to do, but that he felt I could handle on my own. I found Christian to be courteous, honest, and professional. He clearly takes pride in what he does and didn't leave until he was certain all my questions were answered.
I've got an older home that needs a lot of attention, and I will be building long-term relationships with all different kinds of contractors. After meeting Christian and watching him work, I am glad to say I can stop looking for roofers. I found my go-to guy.

FAQs for garage and garage door service projects in Poplar Bluff, MO

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.

Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.

A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.

Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.

A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.

Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.

If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
