"I was very pleased with Sentry Access, from start to finish. I had the opener replaced. My older garage door (20+ years old) now operates and sounds like a new door. Richard, the technician who did the work, did an outstanding job on both the install and the "tune-up" of the door. I am 100% satisfied with the work from this company, and highly recommend them."

"Great service! Ben, the technician, arrived during the promised window, was friendly, courteous, professional, and efficient. He advised regarding options for service (lube & tune of existing system) vs motor replacement. Ben also advised that if I elected service vs replacement at this time and subsequently (within one year) replaced the motor, the cost for the lube & tune service would be credited toward the purchase price of a new motor. I'm very satisfied with the entire customer experience. Ben was excellent and I would highly recommend Local Garage Door Company."

"Hiring Jeff was a great experience from beginning til the end. From the moment Jeff responded to our questions we knew Jeff cared deeply about his work and providing useful information. Rather than sending cookie cutter boilerplate responses, he took his time to provide valuable resources which would help us make an informed decision. Once we decided to move forward with the project, Jeff helped us selecting the ideal door for our home. He took his time and never pressured us in making a decision. Once everything was agreed on, a few personal matters on our side forced us to delay the installation by some time. Talking to Jeff about the situation was always very pleasant as he was very accommodating and understanding. This helped us navigate thru some difficult times without adding undue pressure. Once the time for the installation came, Jeff was very puntual and respectful of our time. Work was completed on schedule in a very professional manner. Overall, we were very satisfied with the work done and would recommend him to anyone needing to upgrade their garage doors. Thank you so much Jeff!"

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.
Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.
A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.
Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.
A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.
Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.
If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
