"Roberto is a trusted professional. I had him come out and look at a garage door I was having issues with. He easily could have upsold me on a new door, but instead spent 15 minutes fixing the issue. Now I have a garage door that is as good as new and an experienced garage door guy that I know I can trust in the future. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"

"The project went very well from start-to-finish.  My husband and I met with several contractors and eventually decided to go with J Brewer and Associates.  This company's cost estimate was higher than the other bids that we received; however, they stood apart from the others due to their level of knowledge, professionalism and comprehensive approach to our home's maintenance requirements.  Furthermore, the warranty of work from J. Brewer and Associates greatly exceeded the warranties provided by the other contractors that we contacted.  It is nice having this additional peace of mind and it also reflects the level of confidence that this firm has in their workmanship.

When my husband initially met with David (the Project Manager), he pointed out things to him that no one else had noticed and/or bothered to bring to our attention.  David genuinely seemed as concerned about the maintenance of our home as we did.  Furthermore, David was one of the few people that we contacted who actually did exactly what he said he would do.  If he told you that he would meet you at your home at a certain time or get back with you via e-mail or by phone by a certain time, you could count on that being the case.  David always kept his commitments from the initial estimate to the completion of the job.

The majority of the work  was completed by David, Eric and Jared.  Eric was the drywall contractor and he did an excellent job.  Like David, he had wonderful communication skills and was very dependable.  He was also very easy going and a pleasure to have in our home.  Furthermore, Eric made a few very minor repairs that had not been specified in the original statement of work since they didn't require a lot of additional effort on his part to do so.  Needless to say, we appreciated that as well.

The complex shower door replacement was done by Jared.  Like David and Eric, Jared possessed excellent communication skills and also did exactly as promised.  When Jared started working on our shower door replacement, he quickly became concerned about discoloration of the shower stall where the previous door had been for the past 19 years.  He discussed it with me and then called David, who advised him of someone to contact to repair the fiberglass shower stall.  Jared did so and he had another contractor onsite within the hour.  Jared waited for him to arrive and then made arrangements for the work to be done the next day.  I was advised that this would be an additional $250 and given the option of proceeding or not.  We decided that the additional $250 was well worth it and we were thankful that Jared had brought this problem to David's attention and they were able to address it so quickly.  Furthermore, either Jared or David was onsite when this new contractor was there to make sure that everything went as expected, which I also appreciated.  Although David and Jared had not worked with this new contractor in the past, he did an excellent job as well.  We were very pleased with the shower door once it was completely installed.

During the course of the project, Jon Brewer also stopped by the house one day to drop off supplies and see how things were going.  He was just like everyone else that we'd met from this company...very knowledgeable, friendly, professional and a pleasure to be around.  Like the rest of his colleagues, Jon's concern about our home extended beyond the scope of the project.  He asked Jared to check the exterior of our home around the office area where the leak had been to make sure that it was truly well-sealed now and that the flashing around the bay window was at the correct angle to prevent any future leaks.  He did not want us to have our office ceiling repaired and then continue to have problems down the road.  We thought everything was okay in this regard, but we did feel an additional sense of relief when Jared reported that everything appeared to be in order here.

Although we did not have any significant problems, I did have to contact David to have the shower door tweaked a little bit after completion (and payment) of the work.  I asked David if someone could swing by over the next few weeks to take care of this for us since it wasn't an emergency and I thought he would need to work us into their schedule since they do stay quite busy.  However, David replied that he would make arrangements for someone to be there before the week was out.  True to his word, Jared was there within 48 hours (at a time of my convenience) and Jared had the issue completely addressed within an hour.

In conclusion, we were very pleased with the work done by J. Brewer and Associates.  We were especially thankful to have David managing  the work on our house.  He appeared to have a significant amount of experience in all aspects of home remodeling and was very well organized and detail-oriented.  It was nice being able to just contact him with any questions or concerns and know that he would take it from there. My stress level was greatly reduced because David took care of everything so I didn't have to do so at all.

We will definitely use this company when are in a position to continue our remodeling efforts, though that may be a year or two down the road.  We liked this firm's accountability, dependability and high quality of workmanship.  Our expectations were surpassed and the project was completed on schedule for the agreed upon price ..you can't ask for more than that.

FAQs for garage and garage door service projects in Wildwood, GA

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.

Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.

A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.

Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.

A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.

Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.

If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
