"Josh Daniels was my tech. We had to call him to come out after hours to fix a broken cable on our garage door. I was at work, and Josh came to my house and was very helpful and professional to my wife. He made recommendations for my garage door. I called him the next day and he explained all the items he felt needed to be addressed. We then discussed price, and scheduled an appointment to do the "Garage Door Overhaul" and install of a new opener. Josh came to my house, did the overhaul and installation of the opener. He was awesome in explaining everything he did to the door, as well as showing me how to use the opener with all the features it had including WiFi! He did this complete job in under 3 hours, including the tutorial!! If it were possible to give a rating of more than 5 stars, I would certainly do so! For anyone in the DFW area that needs this type of service, you would be hard pressed to find a better company to do business with than FCD!"

"Called Family Christian Doors in a panic since cars were trapped in our garage when garage door would not open. Steven was at our house within a few hours, diagnosed the problem, gave us a very reasonable estimate and completed the repair. He explained what he had done and made some suggestions for potential future repairs since parts of the system are quite old. He told us what signs of stress on the motor would look like so we can have it replaced if needed before it gives out. It is hard to find an honest garage door repair company and we are pleased to have found FCD."

"I am so impressed by this company and by Brandon especially. They contacted me immediately and even offered to come out same day. I unfortunately wasn’t available, so we scheduled for the next day. Brandon was able to identify the issue within seconds of witnessing my garage door problem and fixed it so quickly it blew my mind! On top of that, he was so personable and professional. If I ever have a garage door issue or question again, I know who to call! If you need help with your garage, this company is your best decision."

FAQs for garage and garage door service projects in Addison, TX

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.

Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.

A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.

Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.

A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.

Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.

If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
