"We were in the market for a complete system & researched several companies. A-1 was the only company to suggest a "Hybrid" system. ( Gas furnace with a heat pump) They explained how the "Hybrid" system worked & how it would affect our utility bills. We did some research on our own & found it to be the best type of system for the local weather conditions here in Champaign, IL..A-1 came in, took out the old system. They installed the new system, including a touch screen thermostat. A- 1 was on time, very professional & went above and beyond what we expected them to do. The old AC was kind of tilted on the ground and they broke the dirt down and completely leveled the ground before installing the new heat pump. We are very pleased with how the system works and that it does exactly what A-1 said it would. Have recommended A-1 to people we know who will be in the market for their kind of services."

"We woke up to a 63 degree house.  Not good in Illinois in early February.  Checked the boiler, and the pilot light was out.  I could not get it to light again.  I contacted an HVAC only company, and they told me, since it was a boiler system, I needed to contact a plumber.  Ameriplumb has been recommended to me by Custom Home Updates, so I called.  They fit me into their busy schedule the same day (rare these days), fixed the problem (thermocoupler) at a very reasonable price, and they were very pleasant, courteous and efficient.  Heat was on that evening (which is good to know with a one year old in the house).

"Excellent service, very fast response to my request for service, picked up laptop, diagnosed issues. Initially thought it was an OS update issue but the hard drive had failed along with other components (including 'CPU). Because other components were involved, a new solid state hard drive was put into a laptop with a working processor - same type CPU as in the failed unit. The laptop was repaired and returned in less than a week. This company picked up and dropped off the laptop (driving from Huntsville, AL (about 60-70 minutes)-- great service in this covid environment. "Last week, we noticed our heater was not working very well. I called Purcell's, and someone came out the next day (Wednesday) to look at it. They determined the limiting switch was broken, and he fixed it on Thursday. Our house felt warmer, but it wasn't getting to the thermostat reading. I called on Friday, and the technician came out later that evening to change the settings. The temperature dropped over the weekend, and our heater struggled to reach 64. When it read 57 on Monday morning, I called in again. Matt, the owner, said that he was going to come out to take a look at it instead of a technician because he wanted to see what was going on. He arrived before he said he would, and he found the problem to be the furnace was dirty and needed to be cleaned. He cleaned out the furnace for us, and the house is now heating properly. Within 30 minutes, our thermostat was reading 62 (before it was 58), and it is still climbing. I can definitely feel the difference as there is a lot more air pressure coming out of all the vents. Matt did not charge for the technician coming out the second time or this morning when he cleaned out the vents. He said that we had already paid enough. I really appreciated that both the technician and Matt answered our questions and did not pressure us into things that we did not need. Thank you so much for making our house warm again in such cold weather!"
