"Everything went according to Plan. Shawn came out, gave us an estimate and promised the work would be done in a timely manner. It was. The technicians were very professional and neat. They cleaned up after themselves and took out the old furnace. Can't praise them enough."

"Mull Brothers is great and i would recommend them highly.  They do not require a contract and charge by the service provided.  If you don't need a lot of service on your HVAC system it is the way to go.  They are professional and always did quality work

"It was a superb experience. From the visit by Bruce the sales representative to the installation day to the follow-up from Petro, every single person we interacted with was helpful and professional. When Bruce arrived to do the assessment, we spent time going over the heating needs in the house. After a thorough inspection and measurement of the house, we sat down. He showed me a few options, all of which were going to provide good service. I ordered a unit at the end of that meeting. The installation day was just terrific- the entire work crew that showed up were everything I would hope to find: Upbeat, informative, hard-working, focused. The job was finished before end of day as promised. The heater room is now immaculate, with new piping and a new heater. It was like watching a pit crew at a NASCAR race. Everyone had their tasks, they moved carefully but quickly. The materials were all laid out in order, etc. Just a totally professional approach to their work. The crew boss answered any questions I had. The follow-up for a normal inspection of the furnace chimney was scheduled the day after the installation. I’ve gotten calls to insure we are satisfied with the work. Satisfied barely covers it- I am pleased to write this kind of review. Without hesitation I will recommend Petro to friends and family throughout the Philly area. Peter A. Elkins Park"

"Although it cost me more than expected, Greg would not give up on correcting the balky furnace we have. He did a lot of investigating and found the culprit for the furnace mis-firing. GREAT WORK GREG!"

"Pelletier replaced my 2 zone oil furnace and 2 separate hot water heaters, one natural gas and one electric with a new natural gas heating / hot water system 3 years ago. I continue to use them for my preventive check up yearly. I was extremely pleased from the first meeting where a complete review of the entire home was performed and a recommendation was made including a price quote. I initially had contacted 3 companies, for quotes and Pelletier's was the middle price. I was also impressed with their professionalism. They provided me with information on finance options available and assistance with them. Once I committed to the project and work started, I was impressed with the work being done every day. The workers showed up on time, were very neat, cleaned up every night and were always polite when they were at my home. All permits and town inspections were coordinated by Pelletier and I did not go a minute without heat or hot water. I was even more confident with my choice of companies when the inspector stated the system was impressive and not like any he had previously seen. In the first year the cost of heat and hot water for both units was cut in half and we continue to realize the savings."

"Chris arrived as scheduled and did the plumbing inspection. He explained and showed photos of problem areas and then prepared several quotes. We opted to do two jobs: replace downstairs bathroom faucet and fix outdated, leaky deck side outside faucet. Chris completed both jobs and they are working well. We were pleased with the service and knowledge of our technician. We are new to Total Mechanical Systems and are very plesed with their service."

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Canton, CT

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
