"I called GSM because they had sent a letter in the mail offering a "free" heater with the purchase of a new AC unit.  I had wanted a new system, had heard of them as a reputable company, so I figured I would have them give us a bid.  Their advertising said that - because late winter / early spring was the "slow" season for them - they were practically giving their services away, offering the very best prices of the year, making no profit, just trying to keep their crews working until summer, etc, etc.  Of course, I understand what "marketing" is, but it made sense that they might be offering a bit of a price break during this time of year.  Like I said, I was bidding three other companies.  Most came out and gave me their bid within a week.  I think it took THREE weeks to get an appointment for an estimate with GSM.  I had wanted to get the job going, so I even sent them a "heads up" email telling them the prices I was getting from other bidders... I didn't want them to waste their time if they couldn't beat the offers I already had.  The salesman assured me that I should wait and see their offer before moving ahead.  So I did.  And quoting the SAME equipment, apples-to-apples, they gave me the HIGHEST price of all.  I couldn't believe it.  If this was their best, "low-season", rock-bottom pricing, I'd hate to see what their regular prices look like.

"The service was superior from the initial contact where I requested a quote to the installation. I spoke with Samantha to arrange for someone to come out to provide me with a quote and she promptly scheduled an appointment around my schedule. Mike came out and provided me with several options for a heat pump and promptly sent me an email with the heat pump options and prices. I had contacted 4 other HVAC companies in my area that also provided me with estimates. Accu-Rite Services was the only company that followed up to see if I had any questions and to see if I was still in the process of replacing my heat pump. I called Accu-Rite Services a couple times with questions and Samantha was quick to provide an answer and was very knowledgeable. I scheduled a date for my installation and Accu-Rite Services showed up on time for the scheduled appointment. The installation was really quick, old heat pump was removed, new heat pump installed, everything completely cleaned up and new thermostat was installed. Mike gave a thorough explanation of how the heat pump and thermostat worked. Accu-Rite Services took care of registering my heat pump, scheduled county inspection and also checked for any rebates that were available for me. I absolutely love my new heat pump. I highly recommend Accu-Rite Services for all your HVAC needs. Thank you Accu-Rite Services for your superior customer service, honesty, knowledge and for making this a smooth process for me."

"Rhett came out and did a thorough evaluation of all components of our heat pumps. He found wiring that had been connected incorrectly, as well as wiring that was never connected, which was causing our heat to blow cold air (thus defeating the purpose of having the heat on!) He rewired two of the units and added Freon to one that was low, and the heat has been working perfectly since. Rhett is easy to reach, honest, personable, thorough, and makes sure you understand what is going on and the work he is going to do to fix the problem. His pricing is fair, and he gets the job done right."

"Jon was wonderful. He came out to diagnose existing issues with our AC unit. He presented us with multiple options to repair or replace the aging unit, including costs of each option. Within a week, T.Byrdâ s installed a brand new furnace and AC unit for us at a great price point. Jon and Christian worked very hard and late into the night to finish our job in one day. I canâ t say enough nice things about them or this company!"

"They are excellent across the board. We came home from vacation to find we had no AC in our upstairs. Mike got here the next day and got it fixed. Anybody he has ever sent to our home, has been just as professional and reliable as Mike himself. I can't say enough good things about Cool Comfort."

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Davidson, NC

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
