"It was a superb experience. From the visit by Bruce the sales representative to the installation day to the follow-up from Petro, every single person we interacted with was helpful and professional. When Bruce arrived to do the assessment, we spent time going over the heating needs in the house. After a thorough inspection and measurement of the house, we sat down. He showed me a few options, all of which were going to provide good service. I ordered a unit at the end of that meeting. The installation day was just terrific- the entire work crew that showed up were everything I would hope to find: Upbeat, informative, hard-working, focused. The job was finished before end of day as promised. The heater room is now immaculate, with new piping and a new heater. It was like watching a pit crew at a NASCAR race. Everyone had their tasks, they moved carefully but quickly. The materials were all laid out in order, etc. Just a totally professional approach to their work. The crew boss answered any questions I had. The follow-up for a normal inspection of the furnace chimney was scheduled the day after the installation. I’ve gotten calls to insure we are satisfied with the work. Satisfied barely covers it- I am pleased to write this kind of review. Without hesitation I will recommend Petro to friends and family throughout the Philly area. Peter A. Elkins Park"

"We were very impressed with how quickly Edwin came to assess the problem with our AC. He is very professional and knowledgable! We tried to use another company and they told us something that wasn't even accurate with our unit. Thankfully we found E and G! Would recommend to anyone with heating/cooling issues."

"I have had problems with my furnace locking up ever since UGI-Miller worked on the gas line near our house. Rohrerâ s has been incredibly great, thorough and patient at coming out, trouble-shooting, and getting the furnace working, despite the problem probably not being caused by their system. UGI-Miller on the other hand, never responded to repeated calls."

"Comfort zone came out to give us an estimate, along with another company. In the heat of early August most places were quoting us 4+ weeks for replacement. One place quoted us 7-10 weeks. Why not, it s 2020 after all! Aaron from Comfort Zone came out to quote us and said he could install next day. His quote came in about $2k less than the big name company and his company used Trane but could get us Lennox or another brand if we wanted. Aaron and Rick showed up at 7am the next day and began working. Aaron estimated they d be finished around noon. At noon Aaron left and Rick stayed to finish the job since they were almost done. Unfortunately there was an issue somewhere with the wiring of either the compressor or the air handler. Rick called Trane because he had never seen anything like this. He continued to trouble shoot and stayed until after 5pm working to figure out what was wrong. Unfortunately he couldn t figure it out and we d have to wait for a Trane tech to come out. Rick left and we felt disappointed and discouraged. But this is where the phenomenal customer service aspect of Aaron and Rick comes in. Aaron called us that evening to check in and informed us that Trane and CZ would be our at 8am the next morning. Rick showed up at 7:20 with a new control board and began trouble shooting again. Still no go. The Trane tech showed up about an hour after Rick did. Turns out, two wires were crossed when the air handler was manufactured. No one could ve expected that! Rick and the Trane tech got everything working and were finished within the hour. Aaron called to check in with us later that morning. What I want you to hear from this review is that Aaron and Rick went above and beyond to ensure communication, responsiveness, and troubleshooting. Rick was exhausted but kept trying and trying to get our unit running. Even before the issues Aaron tolerated my bazillion questions. CZ was priced fairly, service time was exceptional, they were kind and patient, they cleaned up after themselves, hauled everything away, and we couldn t be more pleased with our new more efficient system. Thank you Aaron and Rick!!"

"HL Bowman came through when we needed them most. Our AC failed on the hottest day of the year, and they had us back up and running with a full new system installed the very next day. The technicians were knowledgeable, professional, and honest. They explained our options clearly and never pressured us into anything we didn't need. We felt confident we were getting quality equipment at a fair price. HL Bowman only carries best-in-class equipment with a variety of options across different budgets. In a stressful moment, they made the whole thing painless and smooth. Highly recommend."

"After getting bids from a handful of local HVAC companies to completely replace my aging HVAC System (remove existing 30 year old oil furnace and 20 year old AC unit and install new gas furnace and heat pump) I decided to hire Aire Serv. Their quote ended up being thousands of dollars less from their competitors all while installing better, more energy efficient equipment than I was quoted from the others. They also removed my oil tank from my basement. I’m very satisfied with the work they’ve completed and the communication from the company was on point. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to others."

"I received a message from Will almost as soon as I clicked on Angi. He offered to come to see if he could repair my AC at 7 am Monday. He showed up as promised and promptly evaluated my AC unit. I asked him to evaluate my furnace as well because it had been recommended that I replace it a few years ago. Will recommended doing both at the same time, installing units that were more efficient than the ones I had. He gave me a great price and had them both installed before I got home from work on Tuesday. I've got the best warranties on the market and a contractor who really cares. Will is a part of my family now."

"Did a great job, I talked to 3 different contractors, glad I did Chuck educated me every step of the way. Secco Home services ripped me off for $800 to diagnose and charge my system then came back with a equipment quote that would have been wrong for the situation. Avoid Secco at all cost. Call Total Heating and Cooling!!"

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Enola, PA

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
