"The service from Bamford Plumbing & Heating Inc. went great.  He kept his scheduled appointments and had no need to come back because he did everything 100% the first time through.  He is a general plumber, but his knowledge of boilers was exceptional, I learned a lot."

"we had a Bosch boiler hot water combo system installed in the spring of last year for $9500. We used the heating system on some cool days and nights, so it seemed to do the job of heating our home. This year is the first time we have used it for the entire winter. If the temperatures are mild the system works okay. If the temperature drops below 30 degrees it will not heat our home. We were able to keep the house warm thanks to our pellet stove. In Hine sight, We wish we would have stayed with the conventional boiler system for about half of what we paid for this inadequate system. buyers know what you are getting into before you buy."

"Mr. Dean was very professional and knowledgeable. He worked efficiently and didn't leave a speck of dirt behind. He went over the new furnace and central air system with me before leaving, making sure I was familiar with the new system operations. I recommend this owner operator company with high regards. Thank you!"

"The technician was great. He explained what he was doing as he went along even though it was freezing outside. Checked my entire heating system to find the problem and replaced only the parts that were broken. Got my system back up and running in a little under two hours and was very pleasant and understanding when we asked him many questions and answered everyone so that we understood him. Thank you so much for your professional manner and courteousness. Got my hearing system to stop running in emergency mode and back to normal heat. Thanks"

"I hired K & K to install a range hood. There was no electrical there previously so they had to run electric. I also had them install a new light fixture and remove an exhaust fan. K & K did excellent work and even repaired an electrical box that another contractor had installed. I was given a great estimate and was charged the estimate price. Would definitely use again and recommend."

"We decided to replace our 16 year old AC and furnace as we wanted to prevent possible problems with our HVAC system. The heating consultant that they sent, Alex H, was very friendly and knowledgeable. He provided us with estimates for a number of options - similar to those from other HVAC companies that quoted for this work. A day later I received a call from Blue Dot offering a discount on that quote and we accepted that quote. Alex made the one and a half hour drive to visit with us again, to walk us through the contract details, and to explain install process. This was a really nice touch as usually contracts are signed electronically these days. The Blue Dot install team came on time on the scheduled day and did a neat and professional job with the install - performing all the necessary checks and tests, and left the work area clean and tidy - and with the HVAC systems working well. The whole purchase and install process couldn't have gone smoother. We are very happy with BlueDot and will certainly use them again preferentially for our HVAC needs."

"Thanks to Brian and BCG, our home has received a much-needed facelift. Brian and crew worked tirelessly throughout a very difficult heat wave (heat index exceeding 100 degrees!), and did an excellent job on each and every one of our essential repairs. Brian has worked for us for many years and we know him to be highly skilled, as well as extremely reliable and trustworthy. His price quotes are always very reasonable; and there has never been a time when we weren't absolutely convinced that his work is worth every dollar spent."

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Freeland, MD

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
