"First off , if you are not a fan of the TV show "Shark Tank" you need to get past the name of the company. But you won't be sorry you did. It turns out that Mr. Wonderful is a guy named Paul. I called him to replace an electric meter at the suggestion of the utility company who advised that it was corroding. I also needed to replace some light switches. During his initial visit he examined the meter and the wiring from the utility to my house. He carefully explained to me exactly what steps he would take to make the repair and pointed out the details on my house to illustrate his explanation. He gave me a written estimate, (actually email) outlining both materials and labor that would likely be required. I also told him that the utility company had said that replacing the meter would solve a problem with flickering lights in part of the house .He and his assistant, Jason, returned on the agreed date promptly after confirming with me the day before. When he was done, he told me that the meter did in fact need replacing, but that he didn't feel it was the cause of the flickering lights. While we were talking, sure enough the lights did their thing again, proving his point. He quickly figured out that there were some circuit breakers that were damaged, and replaced them.- Problem solved!!! In addition to knowing his business, Paul was courteous , and professional throughout the process, and, having done some comparison shopping, I felt that the cost was fair. I would certainly hire him again."

"Found Waterheaters.com on Home Advisor. Nate and Eddie came out after Nat Grid turned off the gas to the house due to gas leaks. They gave us an estimate about the work that had to be done (replace corroded pipes that were leaking, as well as a bad riser outside the house by the meter that was made of galvanized steel and was corroded as well as stuck through concrete.) The riser was replaced with the proper piping material and re-routed through the house into the basement. They then had to do a pressure test and isolate the main leak, which turned out to be galvanized pipe that went to our heated garage. That pipe was done 20 years ago by someone else and should never have been used, as I learned from Nate and Eddie that galvanized pipe corrodes. It lasted 20 years but it was the main issue so they had to disconnect it from the system and cap it off. Nate and Eddie told us that our options to get heat to the garage are to use the proper piping (and showed us how they would do that without having to dig up our patio and lawn) and also mentioned going with Propane and getting a conversion kit for the existing Modine heaters in the garage. They also repaired all the leaks (there were many) by replacing the piping in the basement that goes from the furnace, stove and hot water heater. They were very professional, courteous, on time, and clean. Great work ethic. They took the time to explain things to us and they got the job done in a timely fashion. The cost was not bad. I was expecting to pay much more. I had 4 estimates - 2 lower and one much higher. At the end of the day, I felt that they were the best for this job as they impressed me with their knowledge and expertise. They also didn't give me a 10 minute estimate but were here for a good 40 minutes during the estimate. I had a good vibe about them from the get go when I spoke to Harvey. He also was very courteous and professional on the phone and while I had 3 prior estimates, no one really stood out the way Harvey did and that was on the phone. After Harvey sent Nate and Eddie for the estimate, I knew I wanted to hire them for this job. I will say that I was quoted 875.00 by one company, 1000.00 for another and 1900.00 by another company. The cost from Waterheaters.com was 1200.00. I say this because it wasn't just about getting the "lowest" cost. We obviously didn't take the lower ones. It was more about feeling that the job would be done right. That was the feeling I had from the beginning and it proved to be spot on. Thank you, Nate and Eddie, for providing excellent service. "When this winter season started our 60 year old gas boiler was patched up by our current provider to provide heat on antemporary basis until a new gas boiler could be researched, priced and installed. As a courtesy our current repair company, who now was now oil heat oriented and two other suppliers were contacted and I obtained 3 estimates. Since a new gas boiler is an expensive item to replace, I researched the cost on line and came up with a purchase price that I considered reasonable and willing to pay. The 3 price estimates varied by a difference of $5,000, so buyer beware. I chose Universe Appliance Repairs, Inc. based on several discussions I had with their Project Coordinaor/Estimator, and an executive who happened to answer my call rather have a customer on hold during a busy time. From my first contact with Universe, I found them to be totally customer service oriented, understanding my boiler needs, knowledgeable about boilers and appliances, proactively made suggestions. patiently answered my questions, and offered to do the work when I was available, offered a reasonable deposit at time of signing their contract. The installation technicians arrive promptly, worked well together as a team, tested the system, cleaned up after themseives, and showed me how to use the new thermostats that were installed.
