"Excellent! We did a whole house remodel in 2013 and Holtzople installed the geothermal system. Our utility costs went way down compared to our previous oil furnace and electric central air conditioning system. We then signed up for their semi-annual maintenance agreement so they send a technician out every year for a tune up and cleaning before the heating season and again before the cooling season. Big shout out to Kevin, the technician who usually performs the maintenance, for his professionalism and friendliness. For 8 years now we've been enjoying care free climate control in our home at a lower price than I ever would have imagined. I highly recommend Holtzople for their products and service and Geothermal for efficiency."

"John was professional, friendly, and did what he said he was going to do. Till John came along my water heater issue was ongoing for many months. Others had come by and solved the immediate problem but John got to the root of the matter, ordered a small part, installed it...ongoing issue solved. If any other issues crop up I will certainly give John a call."

"Mr. Dean was very professional and knowledgeable. He worked efficiently and didn't leave a speck of dirt behind. He went over the new furnace and central air system with me before leaving, making sure I was familiar with the new system operations. I recommend this owner operator company with high regards. Thank you!"

"As always, whichever McCrea service person arrives to work on my air conditioner/furnace, they are always friendly, willing to engage in discussion about my systems, and knowledgeable about what they are working on. I always gets a text and email the day before the scheduled service visit, as well as about 30 minutes before they are due to arrive. This was the first time I used the tracking link provided so I knew when he was going to arrive at my house. Going on 6 years using McCrea and I have never had a problem with them."

"First, my project was to install, from scratch, a new HVAC system, including ducting, with tha furnace in basement (initially, it was upstears in a closed). Last year and early this year, I got 3 contractors on site, by direct call, and none of them answered my spefic questions but taking pictures and promising that will send an estimate. I never got it. I was getting anxious. So I got the idea go to Angi. First visit I got in the same day I put my request on Angie's site, called his boss advice me to just change the furnace. I could not, because the previous system was heating OK only one half of the house. Finally, next day I got AJB visit an made me happy. He understood perfectly what I wanted and my concerns and explained to better and quite ingenious solutions on my suggestions. I understood him perfectly because I have strong knowledge of aero-dinamicsor or fluid mechanics so I signed the contract right then. Now, I have a sweet warm house in every corner of it."

"Compared to any service i have ever hired anyone ever...this has been the best experience. Mr. Ford is honest, incredible nice, trustworthy and did an excellent job replacing my entire power fuse box in the house. With such a big job, i thought it would take him all day, but got everything done in half the time. Everything is working great now. Thank you so much, i greatly appreciate his help. I will definitly call him again if i have any electrical issues. He gets a huge A+ from me!!!"

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in New Oxford, PA

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
