"Great, They were on time, wore things over their shoes, laid down clothes to cover my floor and rugs. Shopvac and cleaned everything didn't even know they were here. Very professional and they were very nice. Didn't stop working from the time they got her. I can feel the difference in my house the very next day I came down. I set my heat on 67 and when I came down in morning it was 39 degrees outside but my house was 70 inside. I am very pleased.

"We couldn't be more pleased with the job they did. The cost of the roof was exactly what the estimate was, and the job was completed in one day. We're very happy with the workmanship and with the clean-up process. We have used this company before, and would do so again."

"Excellent service, very fast response to my request for service, picked up laptop, diagnosed issues. Initially thought it was an OS update issue but the hard drive had failed along with other components (including 'CPU). Because other components were involved, a new solid state hard drive was put into a laptop with a working processor - same type CPU as in the failed unit. The laptop was repaired and returned in less than a week. This company picked up and dropped off the laptop (driving from Huntsville, AL (about 60-70 minutes)-- great service in this covid environment. I would recommend this company to my family./friends and will use again."

"I received several anxious calls from my tenants that the heat wasn't working on one of the coldest days in December.  I sent out another contractor that I was referred to and they said the pump was bad and wanted 800 dollars to do the job.  I got in contact with the owner of Roher Mechanical and he put me on a priority call for the next day, with a new pump for much less.  When he got there, I went out to meet him and we looked at the boiler.  He told it me it was very old, I didn't realize how old it was!  He quickly swapped out the pump, explained to me what was going on, cleaned up after himself and was VERY polite to my tenants who were very angry and upset about not having heat.  We left, the heat was working and everything was great.  As the landlord of this rental property, I'm not there everyday.  Three days later, when the snow was really bad, I get another call that there is no heat again.  Scott went out again with very little notice to look at the boiler and assess the problem.  The other parts of the boiler were starting to break down, he researched all of the new parts and pieces that were required to get the existing boiler up and running.  He also priced a comparable boiler to replace it outright.  The next morning, he contacted me with all of the information and I decided not to take any more chances and change out and replace the boiler.  I told him around 9 am, and he replaced it that evening.  He even gave a credit for the pump I had replaced a couple days before.

Scott is very knowledgeable and if you ask him a question about boilers/heaters/ or anything, he will give you a great answer in terms you can understand.  And he calmed down my tenants, and I can't put a price on that.  While he was there, he was also able to fix my sink in my bathroom, so there isn't anything Scott and Roher Mechanical can't do.  He definitely saved me on the coldest snowiest day of the year!!"

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Philadelphia, PA

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
