"The blower motor on my furnace was squeeling, and not working at all most times.  When I spun the squirrel cage manually it would work for a short time, but then finally got to the point where it wasnt working at all.  Just a hummy noise.  When I called them, I left a message and within hours I got a call back.  I explained what I thought was wrong and they confirmed that it sounded like a bad blower motor, or to try the starter capacitor first.  I got a capacitor first and swapped out, but no luck.  Then got in touch with them again and within a hour got a new motor to swap out.   He was very easy going and said I could swap it out myself if I wanted and then if I had problems, to call them and they could come out.  I attempted the swap, but I could not get the squirrel cage off the old motor.  I called them the next day and they came out that same day and finished the work for me using the right tools.  Within a hour and a half, I was up and working again and have been working fine ever since.  a new blower motor and starting capacitor was changed.  I would recommend them in the future to anyone."

"Arrived on time, completed job on time.  Removed a 1500lb boiler and removed some asbestos with a clean room environment.  Had all the correct equipment and cleaned up before leaving.  Would use again.

"My computer (Windows XP) was running very slow and had become almost inoperable. It was taking a very long time to process anything, especially anything to do with the internet. IE was taking 100% of the cpu most of the time. Jim worked on my computer remotely for several days defragging, cleaning, anti-virus, malware, etc., but could not get it to perform anywhere near where it should. We decided that I needed a new computer. Jim built me a new computer (Windows 7 with racing stripes). The new system works very well and I am pleased with it. When Jim switched my files over from old to new, the Kodak Easy-Share program with my pictures did not get transferred. He has promised to make that transfer when he installs a new door covering the DVD reader which was broken upon setup. I will update this review when this occurs. I am very pleased with the new system and would do it all over again if a similar situation were present.

"Called warranty repair, found out that it was done by a local provider (Flori Heating and Air). I called Flori to schedule an appointment, they were here on time and got things back up, running and cooling. Since it was 95 outside, I appreciated their sense of urgency and calm professionalism, not to mention the quick return of cold air coming out of my vents!"

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Utica, MN

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
