"It went extremely well. Punctuality was perfect. Paying attention to details was perfect. Knowledge and professionalism were perfect. The price was competitive. We interviewed 5 different providers. Ultimately, Columbia seemed to stand out best. We tried it, and we were quite happy with the choice. The service cost was for two independent air conditioner systems ( we have a large, long house), and one new furnace."

"Our air conditioner is getting close to the age where it needs to be replaced, so it’s starting have problems. Right now Portland Area is enduring a heat wave (~90F), so of course, it broke down. John helped me last year so I called him. He responded ASAP. He quickly found the problem and fixed it. Now my dog and I are sitting in a cool house. John knows his stuff, is quite friendly, and very professional."

"With the occurrence of wildfire smoke increasing over the last few years, we wanted an AC unit to make the hot smoky summer days more comfortable in our house, especially since my wife had been working from home due to the pandemic. Chad was able to instal a great AC unit that used the existing heating system in one day. My wife was very pleased with his professionalism and efficiency and minimal disturbance while working. When the wildfire smoke came in the late summer, Chad contacted us to let us know that he was able to get an air purifier that could also be installed in our HVAC system. With everything that has happened this year, pandemic, wildfires, working from home, we are grateful that we can be more comfortable in our little house thanks to Chad's great work!"

"Excellent from Aerren's inspection, outline of options, pricing, etc. , to Robert the next day installing the new water heater. Both of them answered all our question, were friendly & professional. Everything was up & running in a couple of hours. They're a bit pricey, but considering this was an emergency, they responded fast."

"Cris worked hard to repair our existing mismatched heat pump system. Once it was working again we determined that a replacement system would be the best route going forward. He did a fine job installing the new Goodman heat pump in this old house. It works well, and is very quiet. I was impressed with his attention to detail with all of his work. The install took several days, yet at the end of each day he cleaned up his worksite thereby making living through this disruption quite liveable. I have no problem recommending Solutions HVAC to anyone searching for a reputable business for their heating and air conditioning needs."

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Vancouver, WA

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
