"Furnace was not operating because the company's automatic delivery system ran me out of oil.
Technician showed up promptly and got the furnace operating but could not get heat into the house. Had to reschedule to have zone valves replaced. Technician show up late and didn't have the required parts. Had to reschedule again.
The third technician showed up on time with all the correct parts and worked most of the day to get the system operating properly.
He was completely knowledgeable and very conciencious that everything was working correctly.

"ARS installed my A/C and furnace system about five years ago and they have been doing the maintenance and any repairs since then. The technicians are knowledgeable and professional. They do not try to sell unnecessary repairs or equipment."

"McCrea replaced a 20 year old HVAC system with a new Trane 4-ton XL16i condenser, XV80 furnace and new coils. The salesman, Mark, was very responsive to my request for quote changes or additional items, including financing options. He was very knowledgeable and patient through the entire process as I worked with other companies for competing quotes. As a result of Mark’s recommendations and excellent pricing, I added on a new Aprilaire 1210 filter box (including replacing a portion of the return duct work/box) and an Aprilaire 600M whole house humidifier. I was able to schedule install four days after signing the contract. The installers, Charles and Christian, arrived on time and removed the old and installed the new in about 7 hours. They provided an overview of system operation and cleaned up so well, you couldn’t tell that a significant installation had occurred. I would recommend McCrea, especially Mark, Charles, and Christian to anyone...they were professional and did an excellent job. My home is so much more comfortable with a system that will be better on the summer and winter utility bills."

Customers say: Quick response

"Although the problem was relatively simple and quick to fix, Ray took extra time to check freon and pressure levels to let us know how the unit was performing. He stood by his quoted price. Although I would not classify it as cheap, it was not super expensive and it was well worth the piece of mind from having him look at our entire system. We discussed the eventual replacement of the A/C and he gave me several recommendations on the process, hardware, and price. I will definitely call Ray again in the future!"

"Let me start off by saying Fauquier Mechanical and Derek Goff are awesome. Derek is very honest and you can rely on what he tells you. Derek came out to look at my a/c unit. I had 2 rooms that were not cooling at all. Nothing coming out of the vents. It has been this way since the ac was put in. I originally had a well known big business long time ac heating contractor in Warrenton come out and they gave me a price to replace the 2 pieces of flexible duct that ran from the ac unit in the attic to the two rooms (less than 10 feet each) of $1200 which I thought was absolutely ridiculous. So it sat. Then I found Derek. :) Turns out after Derek looked at the issue, the duct work wasn't even what the problem was!!!! Derek had the problem fixed quick and for less than $200.00! He's awesome! I wouldn't hesitate to call Derek again!"

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Bealeton, VA

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
