"I originally reviewed Dawson Mechanical Contracting two years ago when this furnace was originally converted to gas. (Superbly.) I called them again this morning because the overflow tank was leaking water--today is a Saturday after a snowstorm--and Dave and his crew came out a few hours later and repaired the entire thing. (A serious and complicated job.) I'm grateful for the speed and professionalism Dawson Mechanical Contracting showed. My heat is working again, and the price was fair. I recommend these guys without reservation. Two thumbs up."

"Kyle provided furnace tune-ups for our home. He was very professional and did an excellent job communicating what he was checking. He suggested improvements we could make to our system, but never felt pushy or like he was hard upselling. I really appreciated his approach, and it made me more comfortable as a new home owner."

"Called for a furnace tune up before turning heat on for the season. Fair flat price and quickly available. Felix was efficient and knowledgeable and gave me advice for ongoing maintenance. Another company was charging by the hour and said it would be at least an hour, hour and a half which does not line up with my past experiences having a tune up done."

"It went great. It started off with a fix to a part that was broken on my old furnace. Tom came as scheduled and completed the repairs quickly. He reviewed the problem and the solutions as well as informed us that based on the age of the units he recommended replacement in the near future. The repairs he did gave us heat for a few days before the unit finally gave out. Justin then came to rescue us on a Sunday and reviewed the possible fix or replace options. We decided to replace and he reviewed all of our options. Once we settled on the price and date he left us with space heaters so we could make sure our 9 month old daughter was comfortable overnight. The date of the replacement Steve and John showed up on time and quickly got to work. (They had one other guy with them, but I don't recall his name.) The work was completed that day and Steve even set my thermostat according to our household schedule. They cleaned up the mess that they made installing the new units and made sure we completely understood everything about our new units before they left. I couldn't have been more satisfied with the service these guys provided. Prompt service, courteous and knowledgeable service specialist will keep me coming back!

"I would highly rate the company. My furnace was working, so I hired another company to diagnose it. The service person came and removed the motor. He stated that the motor needs to be replaced and will cost me $1500 to do so. Since my furnace is old, it is better I replace it and will cost me $5000 for a new furnace. He charged me $170 for coming and left the motor outside the furnace stating since it is not working, there is no point putting it back. So, I called 5-6 other companies for a quote and everybody gave me the same ball park number. I had got a promotional offer from Advanced Professional, so I wanted to give them a try. From the very first call, Advanced Professional was truly professional. Valentina was extremely courteous, responsive and knowledgeable. Joey was the technician that came over. He tested the motor and stated that there is nothing wrong with it. It is the capacitor that is not working. He replaced the capacitor and placed the motor back to the furnace and my furnace was working. It is now a week since I called Advanced Professional and I am very happy with their services. I gave a C to Punctuality. But now I can understand why they are in so much demand. I have saved their number and would definitely call them again if I need to."

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Roselle, NJ

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
