His bid came in some $5,000 less than competitors, partly because as he convincingly showed me, other insulators are typically spraying far more than needed. I also did not want to spray directly on our 1880s-era wood siding or sheathing as spray foam is notorious for trapping moisture and leading to rot in wood. But he figured out a solution to create a 1-inch air gap behind the spray foam to allow that wood siding to dry out when moist. He also knew other insulation options and really with that above solution, I think we ended up with the best possible insulation for our historic house. "Spray Foam Insulations LLP did a great job on my home project. Their quote was spot on and their customer service was excellent. I had a bit of a unique situation (at least I hope so), in that the previous owner of my house had constructed a back room extension over an old cement patio. The subfloor, sitting open over the cement was poorly insulated and basically a rodent hotel. I ripped up the floor, disposed of the fiberglass, cleaned up the subfloor and lined all the corners between joists, headers, cement, and support posts with doubled-up door-screening and 1/4-inch wire mesh. At that point Spray Foam Insulations LLP came in (we had previously scheduled), set up their equipment, prepped the area for overspray, and sprayed a nominal 3 (plus) -inches of closed-cell foam in a 12 foot by 18 foot area. They were done in about three hours. My biggest concern was closing all the gaps around the floor perimeter and they did. They hit every corner up, down, and sideways, and that floor is completely sealed, vapor tight, and the joists were significantly strengthened by the foam. The bottom line is, although I may have been able to attempt this work myself by ordering two large two-part kits on-line, I would not have done it near as well and it would have cost the same or close. "Roberto was the technician and he was very professional, polite, and personable. He inspected the rest of our system and told us things that needed to be changed or repaired. He showed me pictures of everything. Everything he told me about was accurate. He quoted me a price for R38 insulation , Some of our ducts were plastic and he recommended them to be changed. I agreed completely and didn't know they were plastic. I would have had them done the work but I had no price comparisons to make and besides I didn't have the money right then. So he just finished the vent cleaning and left his card. He did a great job on the vent cleaning and was happy with the work."

It took a month from signing the contract for the team to be able to schedule our small project but it was worth the wait. The team arrived as scheduled and completed all work much more quickly than I thought they would. They were professional and I hardly knew they were working on my roof. After they finished the repair they had me come out to look and asked if there were any other areas on the roof where I had concerns or had noticed leaks. I had none but the roofer proceeded to check the remainder of my roof anyway and fixed a few small "cracks" as he saw them. It's amazing to have a company come to do the job I paid for and then to go above and beyond the contract to make sure my roof was in good condition!

UPDATE-6/6/15: 

Earlier this spring, the roof began to peel and blow off. It wasn't properly secured at the edges. I called Bazell to come fix it, and they came and fiddled with it, but didn't really do much of anything helpful. Consequently, the roof has started leaking in places. He indicated to us initially that the roof should last us a good 20 years or so, but we've called and called, and he hasn't returned to really fix it. I don't think it would realistically take much more than $30 or so to repair it adequately with screws and washers."
