"I was very impressed at how kevin and team were able to knock out three bathrooms with tear out in half the time the other companies quoted. They did this while working multiple other clients sites also. Kevin was also able to help me mask some poor previous construction methods mainly walls that were not square by helping me choose a tile pattern that made this invisible to anyone who doesn’t know it’s there."

"

After reading the excellent reviews on this site, we contacted Dave, the owner of Elysium Painting who sent a project manager, Randy, who was actually a painting subcontractor who met with my husband and gave what we felt was a fair estimate for the work. Randy told my husband that he would match and purchase the paint we wanted and that the work would take 6 days. My husband put down a 50% deposit, and I arranged to take vacation to be home while they did the work. The day before the work was to start, Randy called to tell us that he and his crew (sub-sub contractors) would not be able to start until a day later than expected because of the need to complete another job. On the revised day that they were to start the work, Randy called me and asked if we had purchased the paint and had it at home. I reminded him that he had told us he would get the paint. He told me that his workers would be there shortly and that he would bring the paint so they could get started. The workers (Dennis and Terry) arrived and were absolutely pleasant and professional. They said that they would do the prep for the first two rooms (our master bedroom and bath) and would have both rooms painted that day so we would be able to use the rooms the following day. Except Randy never showed up with the paint. After waiting a couple of hours for Randy, Dennis and Terry left. An hour later they called to ask if they could come back since they had one small can of paint. They returned and painted the bathroom (white) and left. Unfortunately, the remainder of the job continued exactly as it began, Dennis and Terry would come early and leave mid afternoon, telling me that Randy would not permit them to work longer than an 8 hour day. For Randy's part, he kept calling saying he was tied up on another job, and would come shortly...and then not show up. On the third day of painting, the bedroom and bathroom were still not finished. Randy finally arrived and we discussed some minor changes in the plan: we did not want him to paint two (small) rooms that were included in the original estimate, but would have him paint the woodwork, window frame, and door in the master bedroom. Randy left and came back later that afternoon stating that he had talked it over with Dave, and that Dave stated that they would not charge me any more for painting the woodwork than the original estimate, provided I paid him in full for the job immediately so that Randy could pay Dennis and Terry for their work that week. Reluctantly, I did so. The next day (Friday), Dennis and Terry arrived and told us that they had a family emergency and would not be able to stay, but that Randy would be coming to finish the painting in the master bedroom (5 days after it was originally promised) so we could move back into it. Randy never came, but called to tell us that he would be coming at 7:30 AM Saturday and would be personally working the entire weekend to finish the job. On Saturday, he called us at 9 AM to tell us he would be at the house at 11 AM. Then called back to say he would be coming at 2 PM. Later that afternoon, he called to say he wasn't coming at all because he was finishing an outdoor carpentry job for Elysium on another site, but would come on Sunday at 9 AM. At approximately noon on Sunday, Randy called to say he would not be coming at all because he was finishing the other project. My husband clearly expressed his displeasure to Randy, especially since Randy had been paid in full 3 days earlier, and no work had been done since. Later that evening, Dennis called to ask if we were displeased with his and Terry's work, because Randy had told him that we did not want either him or Terry at the house again. None of which was true. My husband told him that we, indeed, wanted him and Terry to come and get the work completely done, because my daughter was arriving home from school in 2 days. On Monday, Dennis and Terry came and continued to work, telling us that Randy had not paid them for a prior job or the job on our house. Dennis told us that he had approached Dave about the unprofessional behavior by Randy and that Dave refused to listen to him. My husband called Dave directly and explained the entire mess. Dave told him that he had never asked to be paid in full in the middle of the job and that this was not the policy of the company. Dave also told my husband that nothing that Randy had told us was true: there was no carpentry job on another site that Randy was working on for Elysium, that he had never restricted the crew to only 8 hour days, and that he had never instructed Randy to withhold pay from Dennis and Terry. He told my husband that he would never have Randy work on another job for him again, and that he would instruct Dennis and Terry to stay working as long as necessary to get the work completed by the day my daughter got home. Dennis and Terry worked hard and did a good job on the painting, finally finishing the master bedroom the day after my daughter arrived home (Randy had not completed painting the trim before that), 7 days after originally promised.

So, although the work was finished 4 days later than promised, Dennis and Terry did a good job and acted professionally throughout. Unfortunately, our home turned into Painters' Peyton Place with considerable inconvenience and not much truth

or reliabilty from Randy, the subcontractor project manager. One would have thought that, with such a brouhaha, Dave might have come to our house (the job site) to make sure that the work was done to our satisfaction, but we never saw him. However, a week later we did receive a handwritten card signed by Dave telling us "how much Randy and his crew enjoyed working with you" and that "they look forward to working with you again in the future." Hello? Not on your life. There's enough drama in the world without Painters' Peyton Place.

I guess the thing to remember is that your work is not going to be done by employees of Elysium Painting, but rather by subcontractors who are poorly supervised by the owner. If I had known about the hassles that would ensue, I would have hired Dennis and Terry directly without going through Elysium. I suspect that this is what we will do in the future."

"Of course, we didn't know what the problem was except that our air conditioning stopped working at the end of the day on a Thursday, and with 99F outdoor. We placed the claim online (super easy) and the next morning before noon it was already repaired by a very friendly and professional technician. We had to pay some fee though; completely worth it, but other members might want to know."

"They showed up early and asked if they could go ahead and get started.  They did my roof in one day.  They cleaned up extremely well.  They guaranteed their work.  Made sure all the nails were picked up.  Had put tarp all around the house.  Removed all lawn ornaments and put them all back when they are done.  Did all the extras not necessarily asked for - went the extra mile that we really appreciated.  Their crew was absolutely wonderful, cordial.  Any questions we had they answered.  Brian, the Sales Manager, came out everyday to keep watch.  The experience was fabulous.  The owner even came out to see how things were going.  They worked with our insurance company and went over the house with them.  It would be a wonderful world if all companies had this work ethic.  I recommended them to my neighbors and 3 of them hired them."
