"ALR Painting did such a fantastic job. My home was built in 1908 and the original paint was chipping away and old. Alex was able to match the exact color of the house and went above and beyond my expectations. I was particularly impressed with the care he took in prepping the home prior to painting- scraping, sanding, and caulking. The paint job wasn’t easy. Alex definitely takes pride in his work and he managed to complete the project much faster than I expected. My house looks AMAZING! I could not be happier with my experience and I highly recommend ALR Painting to others."

"This was our second experience with Custom Application Painting. We had worked with them originally in July to repaint the interior of our home. I was so happy with the work they had done for us before, I couldn't wait to work with them again. Like before Custom Applications Painting took the time to understand what we wanted and made helpful suggestions. Because they did work on the inside of the home they were able to compliment the outside with new colors that tied the look of the home together. We have had several compliments from our neighbors on how nice the house looks. We will be working with Custom Applications Painting again!"

"I hired a painter out of the newspaper and he gave me a flyer to do all the things he was going to do. He didn't do any of them. I had to have my house painted for appraisal. After that experience, I called Angie's List for a list of painters. Beyond a doubt Four Seasons was the best. He brought it to my attention that there was lead based paint. He suggested that I call a company to detect if there is lead within the paint. Four Season is so knowlegeable and so precise."

"Took me awhile to write this review but Joe did a very good job. Quality work for an excellent price, and very friendly. Listened to what I had to say and was willing to go beyond what he originally was called out for. Project took 3 days. Joe even painted the area's that he repaired. Very professional.
Great person/company.

"The power wash and clean-up were both very perfunctory. Many garden plants are speckled with paint. That said, the price was very reasonable and the house has been painted. Considering the hasty prep that was done, I only hope the paint job lasts a few years.

"Came and gave estimate for the rooms to be painted. Agreed to the paint selected. Added more rooms later for resonable price. Also painted doors and baseboards. Cleaned up after work. Good job."

"I needed to paint the interior and exterior of an addition to our house and found Pacific District 808 on HomeAdvisor.com. Being relatively new to the website, I wasnât that confident. But Daniel, the owner, promptly scheduled a time to look at the job. He provided a very detailed written quote a day later and his pricing was extremely competitive. The work was done on schedule and it was a beautiful job. In fact, after seeing the quality of his work and his dependability, I asked Daniel to paint the rest of our house. Best of all, all the workers and most especially Daniel were easy and fun to work with. I''m a little bit of a perfectionist and Pacific District 808 met all my expectations!"
Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.
Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.
Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.
You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.
Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.
Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
