Small jobs welcome

"Justin did a real 5 star job. He was friendly, responsible, fair, and very easy to work with. He first pressure wash the entire house. Then he took tremendous care to tape over all windows and areas that were not to be painted. He covered all my plants so they wouldn’t be hurt. He was very neat with no over spray on any unwanted areas. After he started I asked him to do some extra work and he did it for a very fair price. If you want a responsible, fair, and professional company to paint the outside of your house, this is it. I recommend Justin 1000%."

"Fantastic experience with David, the Paint Guy - 5 stars all around! We hired David to paint all of our interior walls, trim and doors + sand and stain our interior stairs + repair, replace and paint some boards on the exterior of our home. His team was able to start quickly - they showed up early every day and managed to get all of the work completed in a week. Communication was excellent, David kept me informed throughout the project. I was anxious about having to move all of the furniture and artwork from the walls, but David assured me his team would take care of it and they did. Couldn't be happier. Thank you, David."

Customers say: Quick response

"Roland and his team did a fantastic job, they hit the trifecta: 5 star quality, 5 star service and 5 star value. Roland gave us great advice that helped us pick the best quality paint. His team was also very professional and went above and beyond by touching up a few spots on the ceiling from a prior paint job (we just bought the house). Roland also completed the job ½ ahead of schedule."

Customers say: Terrific value

"Leo and his crew did a great job on the interior of our house. They repaired a number of flaws in the sheetrock and stairs then painted to perfection. The work was performed on time and our house was left in immaculate shape. We would highly recommend this company and will definitely use them again."

Customers say: Quality work

"As part of our home renovations, we wanted the entire interior repainted and the popcorn ceiling scrapped and then painted white. We wanted the same for our garage. After shopping around we chose Miles the Painter because he offered a fair price, was a local small business and the company had positive reviews. We contracted with Miles the Painter in Feb 2016 for the work to start on or about April 15. In a number of emails we made it clear my wife was driving down from VA and would oversee the start of renovations, which included major remodeling of bathrooms and kitchen cabinets, and since scrapping the ceiling was a major mess, nothing could start until after that portion of the project was completed. We added she would be in a hotel to avoid the mess but would sleep in one of the rooms afterwards. After all the communication and emails, the paint crew did not show up for three days. Yes, Adam did call on the start day and say they were behind, but his delay forced a delay in everything else. When his crew did arrive, there were some words exchanged with our general contractor regarding putting protection down on the floors and carpet - apparently the paint crew were not protecting the flooring and carpet as they should have. There were days they didn't show up (yes they called before hand) or they left early or they showed up with a smaller crew, but progress was being made. The last areas to be painted were the master bedroom/bath and the garage. It was in these areas that the workmanship was not up to par. In the master bathroom the crew painted over some old wallpaper. I believe this had been painted over before, but I would expect a professional team to bring this to our attention and offer a fix. The anchor bolts/holes for the old vanity lights were still in the walls, they just painted over them and we had to clean paint off the new bathroom cabinet molding. The paint used in the garage was very similar to what had been previously used and this might be the reason there were large areas that simply were not painted - they simply missed them. We also had the crew refinish our wooden front door and they did an excellent job and the same for our French patio doors. I will add that whenever Adam was with the crew, they seemed to work better. As for clean up, we are still cleaning paint drippings and dust from the ceilings off the floors. In response to our call, Adam did return later and touched up areas missed in the garage and house."

FAQs for painting projects in Destin, FL

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.

Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.

Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.

You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.

Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.

Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
