I NEVER write online reviews, but I felt compelled to write a review of Laguna Painting because of the excellent experience my wife and I had when Laguna Painting painted my house. Our experience started with Omar Enriquez visiting my home to provide an estimate. We had not yet selected colors, but wanted a specific look and Omar asked very insightful questions and listened carefully to what we were trying to accomplish. He had great ideas, made excellent recommendations and guided us based on the feedback we provided. He was quick to come back to us with a very detailed proposal and I was surprised at how reasonable their price was. I got about a half-dozen other proposals, and while he was not the cheapest, he was close, and most important to my wife and me I felt like this would be a good experience and that Omar and his team would take great care of us. I was even more impressed than I thought I would be. Once we narrowed down our color choices, Omar painted adhesive papers, each in a different color we were considering, so that we could move the colors to different areas of our home to see how they looked in different lighting. I do not know any other painting company that would do this. We originally decided to paint the entire interior and exterior of our home. But after consulting with Omar, and because the outside of our home was painted 5 years ago, we decided to not paint the entire exterior, but just have Laguna Painting touch up areas that needed it. He provided a revised quote that was very fair, and told me, quote, I know what you are looking to do, and I will take care of you. And he did. I had several areas that needed a LOT of work a couple walls needed major stucco repair; metal railings were rusting; the doors needed painting and the area where the house meets the ground needed to be painted. I did not need to point out anything Omar and his team just took care of it all. On the inside of the house, the team was meticulous about all the little details. My home interior had not been painted in over 20 years and there were tons of nicks, dents, nail holes, screw holes, texture repairs and I even needed some drywall work done. Omar and his team were quick and very thorough. And any areas they missed (some are hard to see until painted) were touched-up to perfection. The craftsmanship of the crew was impressive. As an example, I had a wood interior door that had a hole in it. My doors have arches on the top and I thought it would cost a fortune to replace it. Omar told me his team could repair it. The door has wood grain in it, so that grain would need to be replicated. I was skeptical. But now, I cannot even tell where the hole was! Omar originally told us the job would take 2 weeks or a little more. They finished in 2 weeks to the day. They asked if I wanted them to work on Saturday, which I did. The other thing that was amazing is that we actually stayed in our house for the most part during this process. Omar had his crew work around us, starting in an area of the house we use less. They left our kitchen open until the couple days they needed to paint that area. I would highly recommend using Laguna Painting, based on the experience we had with Omar and his team. In fact, I have already told all my neighbors and friends about them and one of them is currently getting a proposal from Laguna Painting. It has been a pleasure to write this review.

Suggestions to Make Sure You Contract a Painting Professional Sufficient for Your Standards

Finding the greatest painting company for your requirements and job is a great way to ensure the highest chance of success. Research more about some of the factors you should consider when employing a painting professional in Laguna Niguel.

It makes sense to find out about insurance coverage. Your selected painting professional should have liability insurance covering any subcontractors, tools and equipment, and property that might be subject to damage or injury. This safeguards both the painting contractor and you.

What Can You Hire a Painting Company to Do?

Not all residential painters perform all types of home painting, so it’s important to understand what jobs are on offer and who you can turn to for those services. Some house painters might only paint the outside of homes, while some might focus on interior painting. Some may only perform decorative projects, such as adding murals or decorative accent walls to spaces.

A number of residential painting companies do interior wall painting. At its most basic, these jobs consist of priming and painting walls, incorporating edgework, to ensure a professional-looking finish. Some professionals might also paint ceilings, molding, and baseboards, but it’s vital to ask and not just assume.

Businesses that offer outside house painting services paint the exterior of residences, including siding, brick, and other surfaces. Double check with a company to make sure it will paint specialty areas should your house has them.

When you’re looking for a bit more flair, you might want a company that does stenciling or other decorative painting. This specialty service may decrease how many professionals you may employ and raise the cost. It’s especially necessary that you review a painter’s portfolio to comprehend if they can perform decorative work you’ll be satisfied with.

Contacting potential painting businesses in Laguna Niguel is the best way to find out if they can offer the services you need. Giving as many details as possible regarding your goals and preferences for the painting project may also help businesses offer you the most valide quote.

Frequently asked questions

Painters usually price a job by the square feet of the project. Sometimes they’ll include flat fees for fixed expenses, like overhead and permits.

Interior painting makes for a doable DIY project. You can save some money and get a real sense of accomplishment by doing this yourself. And, with the right prep work – covering, taping and scraping – it’s fairly forgiving. But it takes a lot of time to move furniture, tape trim, prep the surface and cover your floor, let alone apply the actual paint. Instead, save yourself the time and hassle and find a local interior painter.

Leave exterior painting to the pros. Not only do you need to worry about the type and quality of the paint, you’ll also likely need a ladder and considerably more prep work. You’ll likely need additional equipment like ladders, scaffolding and possibly a paint sprayer. It’s almost cheaper to just hire a pro. Talk to a local exterior house painter about your project.

  1. Do your research. Understand what to expect and what to look for in a pro. Look at paint types, prices and costs.
    1. Interior home painting costs $1,000-$2,800
    2. Exterior painting costs $1,700-$4,100
    3. Painting a ceiling costs $150-$350
    4. Painting cabinets costs $350-$1,200
    5. Trim painting costs $500-$1,500
    6. Calculate paint coverage
  2. Call pros for site inspections and estimates. Always get three to five estimates.
  3. Check references, compare quotes, look at past work. After you have estimates in hand, do one final pass to compare the contractors.
  4. Sign a contract with the pro of your choice. You might need to make a down payment, usually 25% to 50% of the total project cost to cover material costs, but not all pros require this. Don’t pay for the entire project upfront.

  • A complete inspection. Each pro takes a walk around your home to evaluate the condition of your current paint, the size of the job and any obstacles for accessing the site. They do this to see how much prep work they’ll need and estimate how long the job will take. The more thorough the inspection, the more accurate the quote.
  • Color consultation. Expect each contractor to have varying color options and suggestions. However, you have the final say.
  • Listen to the pro – they’re experts after all – but don’t get pushed into a color combination or finish type that you don’t want. Understand the different exterior paints or interior paint choices before your pro arrives.
  • A rough estimate or complete quote. Finishing contractors vary here. Usually, they can quote straightforward projects on the spot. But some may need to take it back to their shop to run numbers and give you a detailed estimate with costs broken out. Neither method is better than the other, but just make sure to get multiple quotes.

  1. How long have you been in business? A long business history helps you avoid shoddy companies. It’s hard for a service business to stay in business if they don’t do good work.
  2. Are you licensed and insured? Not all states require a license for painting homes, but many do. Always use one that’s insured.
  3. Do you belong to any professional organizations? You’ll find many online, like the Painting Contractors Association or the Finishing Contractors Association?
  4. Do you have other work I can look at? Always check a portfolio or, in the case of painters, it’s better to look at work they did a few years ago to see how well it’s held up.
  5. How long will the job take? Get a rough estimate but get it in writing.
  6. How many people are in your crew? This is especially important if you work remotely. More people generally means more noise, but they’ll be done faster.
  7. Will I be in the way if I’m home during the painting? You usually won’t be in the way, but this question helps you understand what to expect while they’re working. They’ll need to lay down coverings and do a lot of prep work.
  8. Do you guarantee your work? Never hire a painter who doesn’t guarantee their work. This often means they’ll rush the prep work, since peeling never happens right away.
  9. What type of paint do you use, and how long is it rated to last? Different rooms need different paint and the exterior needs exterior paint. It comes in different grades with different guaranteed lifetimes.
  10. Can you supply a written estimate and contract? Never use a painter who isn’t willing to put his work in writing.
