"Doug Davidson was great! He was always on time, pressure washed my house and laid down ground & window covers before starting to paint and did an outstanding paint job. It was obvious he took pride in his work. His pricing was very reasonable. I would not hesitate to use Davidson Painting again and I have already recommended this company to two of my neighbors."

"We are a retired senior couple in South Salem. We hired N W Painting Company to paint the exterior of our three bedroom, 1500 sq ft. home. The owner operator Martin E. Llamas Frasuto offered the estimate with lowest price. He and his assistant did a marvelous job. Their workmanship was impeccable. They were professional, courteous, attentive, and responsive to every request and concern. The project was finished in the time frame promised. I heartily recommend their work to others seeking a house painting contractor."

"Truly one of the most professional and hard-working contractors I have seen. They have been very thorough with the job, the preparation to paint on our old house that has been needing a new coat of paint for a long time has been extensive and most certainly not haphazard. There are so many different places where the wood has rotted out and they continue to take that all out and replace where needed like a professional job should be done. I have seen many contractors brush these types of things over due to the extra amount of work it takes, but that is not these guys. This company will make sure a job is done right! On a personal note, I also have a baby I need to put down for a nap each day, and they have been so understanding to work on the other side of the house and keep quiet until my baby wakes up. HUGE thank you to this company and their skill, professionalism, and positive attitudes."

"I've used Tates Construction for a number of projects, large and small, most recently a major siding project, putting siding over the original cedar planks. The price was reasonable and the job was well done. Jon Tate and his team are personable, easy to deal with, and pay attention to the details. They also painted the new siding and did a fine job with that. In the past, I've used them for interior railing/woodwork, exterior door replacement, fence work, exterior paving, roof/gutter work and window installation. I intend to use them again for interior remodeling in the near future. Highly recommended."

"It turned out okay I guess, I was surprised that they were here for only 45 minutes. I did not get much for what I paid. They were more interested in examining my roof and told me that I needed to get a new one. Then they took the measurements and have not called me back with an estimate on what it would cost to get a new one. I am really disappointed in what they did for me. They were clean and were not rude. They were not demanding or anything like that. They were courteous and did a good job. They said that I did not have any leaks, which was comforting. They did examine the roof and told me that I needed a new one, so I was pleased with that. It took about three weeks to get them out here. I finally called them. I have not heard from them since they came out. I would like to see their bid on the new roof. They were not a lot of pressure. They did not call me; I had to call them. They were on time. The guys knew what they were doing. I could have gotten a roof cleaner for half the price. I would not use them again."

FAQs for painting projects in Myrtle Point, OR

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.

Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.

Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.

You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.

Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.

Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
