"Matt and his team were excellent. We had a big job for them to do which included the entire exterior to our two-story 90+ year-old home. The house definitely needed an overall refresher. It hadn't been painted in many years. The job was done on schedule and as estimated. Matt was easy to communicate with, and we felt he and his team wanted to do the best job possible. They were always professional and over the course of the job (which included full washing, scraping, and painting) we always were happy to have them on our property, which they kept in good order."

"They really went out of their way fixing a hole in the ceiling. They patched the hole perfectly and painted, but the paint didn't match. So for only $30 extra they took a sample to the store, matched the paint, bought some paint, and re-did the painting! They are very fair and honest and did a great job for us. For sure will re hire."

"Manny and his team did a fantastic job on staining my deck! Got the old paint off with great detail then stained it for a great finish. When I noticed something that was concerning, he redid the section to make sure I was pleased, no questions asked. He was punctual, kind and fast! Highly recommended and will be using him for other projects. Great experience all around!"

"I hired Elias to knock down a wall, paint a stairwell, stain and varnish wood paneling wall, lay down flooring and moulding in a room and a hall and patch up a few things around the house. Elias and his team were absolutely wonderful. They showed up on time every day, finished the jobs in a matter of days, and did exceptional, flawless work. Everyone was really nice, polite and straightforward about exactly what work was being done and what it would cost. I will be hiring them again to install toilets in a few weeks and would recommend Elias to anyone that needs work done around the house."

"Precision Paint recently completed painting my foyer along with the living and dining room areas, and I am pleased with the overall results. The Project Manager was thorough, cordial, and easy to work with throughout the process, ensuring my questions were answered and my preferences addressed. While it appeared that some of the work may have been completed by day workers, the final paint job looks great and has refreshed the entire space beautifully. In addition to painting, the team skillfully incorporated the installation of molding I had purchased separately, which added a wonderful finishing touch. Overall, the experience was positive, and I appreciate the effort and flexibility shown in completing both the painting and molding installation to my satisfaction."

"They were very professional. He did the painting very good. I have used him several times. He does a good job. Everybody comments on the color in my bedroom. He was very good. Stairs, you know how things needs scraping, and how the banisters go. Its not like the bedroom. He was very good. He was very reasonable in price."

FAQs for painting projects in Queens, NY

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.

Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.

Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.

You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.

Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.

Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
