"Roger is amazing! He painted and restored our entire house! His experience, knowledge and expertise were outstanding! We have had so many compliments on his work. He is a true artist. He helped us pick out the colors and was very patient and willing to change them to our satisfaction! Beyond this he is a true gentleman. When we paint the inside of our house we will be using Roger! We are so happy we found him. He is a pleasure to be around. Also, his rates were very reasonable."

"If I could give more than 5 stars I would. From start to finish my experience with Omar and Francisco exceeded my expectations. I called around to multiple different companies for an exterior paint quote, Omar was the first to respond, and came out to provide a quote almost immediately. Every other company wanted to schedule me weeks out just to provide a quote. Omar and Francisco are skilled, knowledgeable, and truly care about their craft. They were incredibly communicative, and made sure I understood every step of the process. They spent an entire day of just washing, prepping, and sealing to get my house ready for a paint job that will last a long time. They came by to provide sample colors and make sure I got the color that I wanted. They were clean, efficient, and even came back the following day to do some touch up on an area that wasnâ t painted because I had removed conduit off of the wall after they painted. Not only do these guys provide an incredible service, but they are two of the most genuine people I have met in a very long time, these guys truly care about making their customers happy. Omar and Francisco are hands down the best company to work with in the Verde Valley, and Iâ ll definitely be using them again soon."

"We just completed our 2nd large project with Jose @Brilliant Rays; the 1st was a whole house interior paint and the 2nd was an exterior paint project. Needless to say, we are very happy with the work that Jose and his Dad do; they are efficient, professional, thorough, and competitive in price. We recommend Jose @ Brilliant Rays highly!"

Customers say: Quick response

"German and his Crew were top notch. They exceeded our expectations in staining our deck, barn, posts and beams. Their attention to detail was excellent and they were very easy to work with. They showed up on time every day at the time promised. The way in which they interacted was very professional. They kept their work equipment perfectly tidy. Arturo, the estimator, kept everything on track. Kelsey helped us pick paint colors for inside. You will appreciate her gift. We will want to use Certa Pro for all future painting needs."

FAQs for painting projects in Sedona, AZ

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.

Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.

Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.

You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.

Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.

Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
