"We had our interior painted by Fernandez Painting, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. From start to finish, the project was handled with professionalism and care. The team was punctual, respectful of our home, and paid great attention to detail. The paint lines are clean, the coverage is flawless, and the final look completely refreshed our space. They took the time to answer our questions and made sure everything was done exactly as we wanted. The project was completed on schedule and the space was left spotless. We would absolutely recommend their interior painting services to anyone looking for high-quality work and excellent customer service."

"We had Mike of Specsurf Painting paint a kitchen, bathroom/laundry room, the exterior of the house and stain a deck. He did a tremendous job. He is reliable, patient, a true professional. His ability to match paint to a 33 year old vinyl siding was perfect. We could not be more pleased. We would highly recommend his service and company."

"If you're looking for a company to do a quality professional paint job at an affordable rate I highly recommend Jonathan at Unique's Painting! I submitted a request for an interior paint project on the Angi app. Jonathan not only contacted me immediately, he also came to my house that same day to give me a quote. I hired him to paint 3 rooms in my new home. The existing paint job was horribly done and almost every wall was left with small holes and lumpy bumpy surfaces. Jonathan and his team did an amazing job at filling, sanding, & prepping the walls and trim prior to painting and as a result the final paint job in all 3 rooms turned out fantastic!! During the process Jonathan even repaired several damaged areas on the tin ceiling before painting it and sent me video updates since I wasn't there. I will definitely be calling Unique's Painting for all my future paint projects and you should too!!"

"The owner was really nice and knew what he was talking about and it looked like a professional company. My interior was a big job and I asked how long it would take and was told about 2 days. On the first scheduled day, I received a call from the painter and said he was going to be late and then never showed. I took the day off to be there so I was out a day. They scheduled another painter to work the next day. I expected a crew and a van pulled up (1.5 hours later than I was told they would be) with only 2 guys. The painters looked like a relatively small local LLC, who must have been sub-contracted. I could have done that, and it probably would have been cheaper. They spent most of the day on their phones, and took a very long lunch, and left early. Back the next day, same thing. It took four days of this to finally finish. I had to waste 2 vacation days and they worked through my weekend so I couldn't get anything done at home. I had to point out areas that needed second coats and finally I just wanted them gone and touched up areas myself. The job they did do wasn't bad, but its painting not carpentry. It cost more than I was expecting but it was discussed that a second coat was going to cost more. I just didn't realize that it definitely needed a 2nd coat, and a 3rd in one room. The owner might have steered me towards a paint with better coverage (but now I know). I had to haggle the small discount because they forgot about it and nothing was mentioned about the first "crew" never showing up. Everyone that I did talk to was very nice, the "crew" was very cognizant of our indoor animals and kept the doors closed, and they also cleaned up very well. However, I can't recommend them based on my total experience."

"David was responsive, professional, reliable, and delivered high quality work. He spent time talking me through possible solutions and how I can get the most value out of our work together. I hired him to do some repair and paint work for my sister in law. He did such a great job that she hired him to do some more work for her later in the week. I will definitely reach out to David again. Thank you for everything!"

"Have used A1 Painting for 2 jobs so far. First job was a pretty large area inside my home - stairway, halls, bedroom and a small computer room. John and team did a great job. started on time and ended on time. No issues. I asked 5 suppliers to bid, all 5 looked at the job but only 3 came back with a price. John's was the lowest bid and he gave me the earliest start date. 2nd job was a rush - just a chimney on the outside of my home which was peeling and needed to get done for a refi - once again, John came through - gave me a reasonable quote and job date. I now have the best looking chimney in the 'hood! Kelly did the work for the chimney and exceeded expectations - sealed the concrete to prevent water from getting in and creating more peeling. Highly recommend!"

FAQs for painting projects in Broad Brook, CT

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.

Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.

Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.

You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.

Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.

Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
