Customers say: True professional

"Neil came out and gave us an estimate along with recommendations on what shade of white would look nice. The first working day he came out to remove all of the cabinet doors, drawers (36 of them!) and a few shelves and he painted the boxes. He took the doors and drawers home to spray them (he hand-painted the boxes so we didn't have to shut down the room which was nice). while painting the doors he discovered a slight difference in the door paint vs the box paint (he showed me and honestly I would have never known) so he came back out and repainted the boxes. At this time he brought a sample he had done of the cabinet door antiquing detail (he hand-painted some of the grooves) so we could approve that. When he finished the cabinets he even went back and caulked areas and touched up our walls in spots that may have needed it. Even with the paint color issue, all the hand-painted detailing and Christmas coming up, he still finished ahead of schedule and we had a new kitchen for Christmas! He was incredibly professional throughout the process and an easy-going nice guy. It's been 4 months and I still walk into my kitchen and just stare at the cabinets because I love them so much now! I would (and have) highly recommend him to anyone looking to have any painting done!"

"Ray Lowe was very prompt to respond to our request for services, visit our home to view the painting required and prepare an estimate. The estimate was very reasonable and we hired him and his crew. They arrived right on time as agreed and completed two rooms of painting in approximately 4 hours. The quality is excellent! And to top it all off, Ray and his crew are very nice, very personable people. We highly recommend Ray Lowe painting services for promptness, efficiency and quality."

"The entire process of having my deck and window medallion painted by Image Works was extremely positive. Everyone who helped me with this painting project was very professional and helpful. Kaylyn in customer service, Nate who came out and gave me the quote, Rick who did the power washing, Rege who helped me choose paint color and Max who did the painting all were wonderful! I highly recommend Imagine Works this is my second time using them and I will continue to use them for my painting needs."

"Tom did an awesome job painting my metal awning. I was first quoted by someone else for an outrageous price because he said he needed to build scaffolds to paint it. Tom was my second quote. He took detailed measurements, broke down all costs, and took the time to explain everything. He also did not need scaffolds. He is extremely fair with his pricing, attentive to detail, and great with his recommendations. My metal awning looks brand new. I would definitely call Tom for my next project and recommend him to someone else."

"Johnny arrived timely for the estimate. He estimated on the spot. He and his crew came when they said they would. My house was a mess on the exterior. He power washed the whole thing. Itâ s a big, old house, built in 1905. Then he came the following day and primed where needed and painted. He is my go-to guy for any painting projects. This was not an easy job and needed a pro."

"Our contractor, Tyler Gallagher went over and beyond our expectations! He did everything from demoing rooms, hanging drywall, painting walls and ceilings, including up the stairs, some plumbing, hanging ceiling fans in a two story house that?s approximately 100 years old. Mr. Gallagher, had reasonable fair prices, was always willing to lend a hand, very well mannered, and most importantly, tried to clean up behind himself. We liked Mr. Gallagher so much a small job grew into almost an entire home project. We were thankful, Mr. Gallagher was trustworthy, patient, and kind. We would recommend, Holy Cow Contracting LLC and we look forward to having Mr. Gallagher do some of our next home projects. Mike & Senona Krieser Beaver Falls, PA"

FAQs for painting projects in Butler, PA

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.

Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.

Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.

You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.

Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.

Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
