"We had a very good experience with Greg and his team. To start, Greg was very on time throughout the quoting and painting process. He showed up on time to our appointment, and out of four providers quoting the job, he was the only one to provide his estimate when he stated. He was thorough in our estimating meeting; he asked questions to assure we all understood what the work would include. Once we agreed to use his service, Greg and his team were on time each day of the job. They were careful to completely cover and move all furniture and floors. Throughout the 3 day job, Greg had made sure the work was getting done as efficiently as possible, and he was keeping me up to date as needed. They were very respectful of our home and professional in their work. We will definitely use Greg again for our painting needs."

"MQ Painting was very professional in every aspect of the work they completed for us. They power washed every surface prior to painting. All surfaces were sanded or scraped as needed. Two coats of stain we applied to all surfaces. The garage doors were stripped, stained and varnished. The deck railings were completely replaced and painted on a very large deck. Originally, Jose thought only a portion of the railing spindles needed to be replaced. As the job proceeded it was apparent that all spindles and railing wood needed to be replaced. The only additional charge was for the materials, not for labor even though every spindle needed to be individually cut from larger pieces of lumber. MQ was the only painting contractor who bid on our paint job who was willing to do all the woodwork repairs needed on the deck. Other contractors said we'd need to have someone repair the deck and then they would paint it. We appreciated working with just one contractor. Their painting and carpentry work was top notch. All workers were neat, punctual and conscientious. All materials and tools were picked up and stored at the end of every work day. I discovered MQ Painting through Angie's List. I highly recommend MQ Painting and would absolutely hire them again."

"I hired TriStar Painting to fix nail pops and cracks in our "tray" ceiling, holes in the walls from pictures, water damage on a wall from the fish tank and paint the room top to bottom. We noticed some issues after the work was done and they returned until we were satisfied with the results."

"Juan, Veronica, Christina, and the rest of his team are extremely professional, flexible, diligent, and kind. We hired JPS due to their excellent reputation and they did not disappoint. They have painted our home meticulously, and are also respectful of their customers and their customer's property. They were punctual and always cleaned up at the end of the day. Most importantly, we thought the original color was too bright, and Juan and his team, repainted the home, putting them a day behind schedule. He handled this with such grace and professionalism. We look forward to working with Juan and the JPS team in the future!"

FAQs for painting projects in Franksville, WI

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.

Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.

Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.

You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.

Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.

Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
