"Bottom line: I highly recommend Don Volkert and will be rehiring him and his crew for our future remodeling jobs. When Don came out to quote my bathroom remodeling project, I knew he would be our contractor. Of the three companies that quoted us, Don had the most original and creative idea for our master bathroom while still being within our budget. He gave us great contacts for sourcing our tile and furnishings, and in early July 2019, the project began. Every house has quirks, and ours was no exception. Don dealt with these unexpected finds - like old pipes and bad valves - in a straightforward, quality-oriented way. Throughout the project, I had full confidence that Don would fix any issues that would cause us trouble down the road. He was committed to doing the job correctly, and the ease of mind that provided was priceless. His crew is small, but they work hard and were respectful of our space and our schedules. Though we had not included small bedroom renovations (installation of a ceiling fan and recessed lights) in the original quote, Don was flexible enough to perform this additional work for us at a reasonable rate. After we thought the job had finished, we found that the plumbing had backed up into our basement because the old, corroded, cast-iron pipes had not been used for several weeks. Well, Don fixed that, too; he installed a new section of pipe, cleaned out the clog, and repaired the buckling floor tile caused by the overflow. Don gave us a master bathroom that I never could have imagined, and I'm excited to have him back for our next home renovation project!"

"Our project couldn't have been more flawless. The work crew came promptly at 8am for 3 full days, laying down runners of dropcloths to protect our hardwood floors. They worked diligently together, asking us our opinion as they proceeded. They usually would finish each day by 3p, with the affected areas vacuumed and picked up. They hauled away all the huge boxes. Since it rained for 2 days, they worked out of our garage and cleaned it and our driveway of any debris. They not only worked efficiently and expertly as a team but were so pleasant and accommodating to us. None of our questions were ignored. The installation of our frameless sliding shower door and unconventional sliding barn door on its track were products they hadn't dealt with before. But, they took their time and care to install both as if it was routine! We are extremely satisfied with the outcome. We would definitely recommend "First State Bath" to anyone wanting a professional, reasonably priced bathroom remodel by a great group of expert, friendly workers. There was a plumbing issue and the installers immediately had Bill, master plumber, come out to fix it. Took 2 days instead of one due to the plumbing issue. My only complaint is that my salesman, Drew W. did not call me back when I reached out to him with a concern. Very happy with the finished project.
