Then ran the pump "into the air" before connecting back to the house plumbing until the water ran clear. Cleaned up and removed all debris."

They turned off the water softener for me and told me how to get the filter pellets out of the lines inside the house. And now I know what to look for if the problem starts again, long before the water goes out."
