"The positive: Graves Brothers will provide a quote for PARTIAL Siding projects where most companies won't talk to you unless you need a FULL Siding project. The installation team was quick and did a nice job. The Cons: Deceptive Sales. Your Typical Residential Home Services contactor. I had a complete east side siding replacement quoted. There is a 24" "Jog wall" between the exterior garage wall and the living quarters wall. Their quote included photos that show this wall in one of the views. A second photo shows the entire length of the wall outlined that includes this jog wall, but they did not replace the siding on this wall. A conversation BEFORE the project work started questioned if I intended on having the wall replaced and it was agreed that it should have been part of the proposal. The installers DID NOT replace the siding on this wall. I asked for a simple $500 credit and was willing to settle for a $350 credit which was more than fair. The Salesman insisted that seeing the wall was not assigned a "wall number" therefore it was not included in their proposal. Graves Brothers displayed ZERO interest in coming to a mutual agreement on the discrepancy. Update 7/19/2024: After continued conversations, the Sales Rep finally conceded that after speaking with his installers, that the work WAS included in the initial estimate and should have been completed. I gave Graves Brothers the option of discounting the price or returning to finish the work. They chose to finish the work which is scheduled this week. IMO, Speaking to his installation team should have been done PRIOR to him taking a flat stance with me that they were right and I was wrong. Give Graves Brothers Home Improvements a 3-Star rating for (finally) doing what was right. The installation was done well and the installers were professional, courteous and cleaned up well. Just make sure you document all conversations and get them in writing up front."

"I hired Dave a couple times previously for small jobs (power wash our back deck and replace a light fixture). Those jobs went well so I moved on to bigger jobs. This spring we decided to put our house on the market so I wanted to address a couple of problem areas so I hired Dave to replace a section of wall in my side entryway and then paint the room, install vertical deck spindles on my front step, and fix a problem with our sump pump basin. He did a nice job on the deck spindles and the wall section of the side entryway, so I then talked to him about replacing our kitchen laminate countertop. He gave me a price that was a little higher than I wanted to pay ($1400) but I agreed. We didn't have samples to choose from but I gave him an idea of what I wanted (I think I had a floor tile as a model). He went to the store that night to get the laminate and sent me a couple of pix via text. The ones he showed me were darker than I wanted but he said the lighter ones would show the seams. I told him I didn't care so much about the seams, but we finally agreed on a pattern (still darker than I wanted but acceptable). Dave and his crew come back the next day to paint the side entry and install the formica while I was at work. When I got home the countertops were almost done. I wasn't thrilled with the color, but since we're going to sell the house I figured I could live with it for a few months. He had worked on the sump pump basin problem, but it wasn't quite working right yet and he wanted to do more. I don't remember exactly what the problem was but I was starting to get nervous about what he was doing to my plumbing so I stopped the work on that. I don't know that he was doing anything wrong, but it seemed like a more complicated problem than what a handyman could fix. The painting was done and the countertops were soon finished as well so I paid Dave and they packed up and left. After they left I got to looking at the painting and countertop more closely and found MANY flaws. There were areas of the entry way that didn't get painted and cracks (some quite large) in 2-3 corners of the countertop. Also, the edging wasn't properly glued down in several spots, and it was uneven... like there was something bubbling up underneath it in several spots. I was sick! As it turns out, Dave called the next day because I hadn't made the check out properly (I swear I didn't do it on purpose!!). So he came by for a new check and when he did I showed him the worst of the countertop problems. He said he would replace them the following week and make it good. (I didn't say anything about the painting because I just wanted it over with at that point and decided I would just fix that myself.) They did come and replace the section of the laminate, but it's still not good. I've found new bubbled up spots and there are places by the wall where it gaps up and water could get in.
All in all, Dave does fine on smaller jobs, but I just don't think he has the expertise for what I needed done. He's punctual and I think he's honest, but I think he got in over his head on this one.
UPDATE: as the countertop continued to warp (they used the wrong glue) I called Dave and he came back and agreed to have it replaced by a countertop installer. It took a couple of weeks, but it got done and it looks great. In the end, I guess that's all you can ask of a contractor: to stand behind their work."

"Zach the sales man was very informative If he couldn't answer a question He called the owner matt who was on vacation with our answer we had a lot of questions that were answered correctly all in the employees were friendly and respectful of our property and to us there was a vent replacement that was done in error but was fixed immediately The only other small thing was the portico needed metal trim and the employee didn't seem to sure that he could trim it right but the foreman Phil saw to it that he completed the whole job. We agreed ones home is their best investment they were all terrific"

"I needed stucco repair work on an old chimney (and other spots). Grady was meticulous and thoughtful on what approaches and materials would work. Throughout the project they allocated sufficient time for each treatment to cure and inspected the work before proceeding to the next step. Grady started the project with no money down and only required ongoing payments for materials until the project was well underway. The final payment was due only after they did a final inspection. Total project cost was also below other bids."

"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."
