"WB Lightning Rods did an excellent job installing lightening rods on our home. The owner stayed onsite the entire time to supervise the work. He took extra care to plan the rod and cable placement to ensure the proper protection and retain the aesthetics of our home. His crew were knowledgeable, polite, neat and efficient. We could not be more pleased with the results."

"Just too expensive for what you get. Feels like a big company nickel and dime move. I get having a trip charge. Which was $109. But then to have the tech who was great btw (not his fault), but was tentative about fixing the problem because of creating more damage. Another $160 for a simple diagnostic charge, again without fixing the problem. I already knew the diagnosis. So he basically did a Band-Aid fix (greased the Knob) and still charged me over $280+ for what equated to be 10 minutes of work. It was ridiculously high for the service provided. Next time I?m going to an independent, local guy."

"Rich is a true professional. He did an awesome job in wiring a new 240v receptacle outlet, and installing a new electric heater in my 2 car garage. He is very knowledgeable and believes in providing excellent customer service at a reasonable price. I am going to contact him for all electrical needs in the future. I am also going to recommend him to my friends and family in this area. Rich - it was great talking to you and working with you on this project. I am looking forward to working with you again soon! Regards, Pali"

"I chose two companies to get quotes from Angie's List. Mel Carr Electric responded immediately and we arranged for them to come out the next morning to give me an estimate. They showed up right on time and the estimator, Gary and his helper Jim, were extremely polite and professional. However, they gave me an estimate for $730.00!! This was for job that I could do myself for about $50.00 in materials and 1 hour of my time! I told them to forget it. The next day I received a call from Dave Simmons at Comalli and I told him of his competitor's estimate. He seemed somewhat amazed at the high quote. I explained the job to him and he said his normal price for such a job is $225.00! I set up an appointment for him to do the job the following week. It should be noted that, until fairly recently, I did all my own electrical work but due to some health issues that is not possible. I mention this fact only to indicate that I know quality work when I see it. Ken, the electrician for Comalli showed up for the appointment and "eyeballed" the job and immediately went to work. Ken was very professional and courteous and, since I watched the work being done, I knew Ken was a star because he took a few of the most simple extra steps to make sure the job was does with all possible safety. Many newer electricians skip the simple (but necessary) steps in the interest of time. Ken told me he had been an electrician for many years - and it showed in his work. The job was completed perfectly and professionally (including some impressive measuring by Ken when drilling through a wall). My only reason for not giving Comalli an "A" rating was one annoying thing. My appointment was for 10 am. When it got past ten I called Comalli to see where they were. I was told that their electrician had been delayed at a job he was doing prior to mine. That is completely understandable (I have gone over initial time estimates myself on jobs) but how about you calling ME - instead of me having to call you for status? Ken arrived at about 11:15 and apologized many times for his late arrival. The lateness certainly was not his fault but I appreciated his recognition that the appointment was missed. My recommendation is that if there is a scheduling delay that the office staff notify the customer. Other than that issue I would not hesitate to use Comalli again (and would hope that they assigned Ken again)"

FAQs for electrical service projects in Gloversville, NY

Always start by confirming the pro’s license number, insurance coverage, and experience level. Visit the electrician’s website, scan recent customer reviews, and verify credentials with your local labor department. Request proof of liability insurance and at least two references that you can contact. These quick checks take only a few minutes but go a long way toward ensuring safe, code-compliant work and protecting your home in the event of an issue.

Grouping several electrical jobs into one appointment means you pay a single service-call fee and one set of travel expenses. Instead of asking a pro to return three separate times for outlets, switches, and fixtures, have everything tackled in one visit. The electrician stays productive, and you avoid extra trip charges, often shaving a sizable chunk off the final bill without compromising quality.

DIY electrical work can be dangerous and, in many areas, illegal without a license. One miswired connection risks shocks, fires, or expensive damage. Licensed electricians carry the right tools, follow local code, and know how to shut down power safely before they start. Hiring a pro may cost more upfront, but it protects your home, family, and insurance coverage in the long run.
